Grant Must Do's
November Must Do's

College Access Team Members
  • Distribute 21st Century Certificates to all seventh grade GU students and to any newly identified GU eligible students                                    
  • Provide services/activities and receipt documentation to Data Stewards & Business Managers
Data Stewards
  • Import Staff data.
  • Enter grades for courses if applicable (Q1).
  • Update 2015-2016 services for April thru June, 2016.  (dates, participation; may require importing 2015-2016 staff).
  • Services & participation for November, 2016.
  • Ensure that students who are GEAR UP eligible and in the program are correctly identified in SCRIBE. Use Student to Program Import File.
  • Submit any available assessment data (SAT/PSAT) not yet submitted for 2015-16.
  • October tasks not completed by Nov. 5.

December Must Do's

Planting the Seeds of Shared Leadership!

On October 28th, over 100 GEAR UP Maine students, parents, and staff traveled to Bangor, Maine to attend a three-day leadership summit directed by GEAR UP Maine and Seeds Training. New friendships were started, new memories were made, wooden boards were broken and lives were forever changed. Students, Staff and Parents were challenged to leave their "Fimage"(Fear of Image) at the door and spend three days learning about emotional capacity, how to work in teams, and solve complex problems. Check out the videos below to get a look at some of the fun, transformational activities that took place.

WHAT IS ASPIRE HIGHER MAINE?

Aspire Higher Maine is a statewide program that helps to support Maine students aspire to and through post-secondary education. Aspire Higher Maine includes three events that help students Apply, Pay, and Go.  

Apply: College Application Month in November

Pay: Financial Aid Awareness throughout the fall and winter

Go: It's A Plan events in May

Maine schools have been participating in Aspire Higher Maine since 2013. Schools have enjoyed having different initiatives to rally their students around and help them see their potential for success after high school.
