Case study: 'Grow Together'
The group started off in July this year, after forming a partnership with drug and alcohol service Forward Leeds. It is one of our 4 weekly Outdoors Active and Well groups promoting regular outdoor activities with a focus on mental health.
'Grow Together' has a few functions:
- Firstly to offer people the opportunity to come together, share and learn skills, improve their health and get to know each other, whilst creating a beautiful and productive space.
- Secondly to offer people in 'Sustained Recovery' an alternative to more conventional talking therapies, as part of their recovery plan.
- Lastly to create a manual, inspired by Permaculture Design for a 6-9 week course for other similar services (to Forward Leeds) to use in their clients recovery.
"You can really see how much it means to the group, how they are simultaneously building confidence and new friendships, having fun, learning brand new skills and already taking real ownership of the project."
Claire Doble (Forward Leeds Volunteer & Co-facilitator )
