Building Houses / Hiding Under Rocks is a 7 x 7 x 7 foot cube composed entirely of 50,000 books sourced from library's around Stephan’s hometown of Portland, Maine. Originally shown at Quint Gallery in 2008, this piece was also on display at The New Children’s Museum in 2008 and the California Center for the Arts, Escondido in 2009.

Please join us on Saturday, December 10th from 10am - 1pm for BOOK / SIGN with Kim MacConnel – a book signing and release party in honor of MacConnel’s new publication. Ideal Boy is a limited-edition book collaboration by poet Ed Friedman and visual artist Kim MacConnel. Its 14 poems and 18 illustrations evoke a “speculative pan-cultural boyhood & manhood replete with customs, rites, prohibitions, encouragements, ambitions, fantasies, and assessments.” Visual artist Ann Agee has designed a three-color dust jacket for the book, which has been screen-printed in four versions. The titling on each version is in a different language: Tamil, Urdu, Khmer, Tajik. Ideal Boy has been produced in an edition of 200. Each copy has been numbered and signed by the author, illustrator, and cover artist.
