Give a Kid a Great Job with your
Colorado Gives Day Gift

James comes from a low-income family. His parents work long hours as a school aid and security guard. They don’t have a checking or savings account.

James is different. And, he is excited. His class is coming to Young AmeriTowne next week, and he is going to be the Accountant in the radio station. James will be working his dream job and using his very own checkbook and debit card.

With your donation, you give James his chance to earn a paycheck and try out a real career. Schedule your gift right now.  Your gift will be matched by Community First Foundation (a Young AmeriTowne partner at the Donation Station) and their sponsors.

Thank you for sending more future accountants to Young AmeriTowne.

YouthBiz StartUp Pitch Competition

On Thursday, November 10, four teams of aspiring entrepreneurs faced off at the YouthBiz StartUp Pitch Competition, held at Colorado Uplift.  Groups from Hill Middle School, West Early College, Western Leadership Academy, and East Middle School all won top honors at their schools’ pitch competitions.  With $250 at stake, the competition was fierce!

All participants completed our YouthBiz StartUp curriculum at their schools. In addition to learning about business, the students practice leadership and public speaking. The curriculum is aligned to National Entrepreneurship Standards and 21st Century Skills.

Judge Denise Smith, State Farm  Agent and long-time supporter of Young Americans Center, noted that it was really tough picking a winner because each business had something unique to offer.

The team from West Early College won for their product "Base," a high-quality speaker for phones, tablets and MP3 players.  The three entrepreneurs were thrilled, -- "I can't believe we actually won!" said West Early College student Jazzy.

Even though only one group took home the first-place prize, what impressed the judges most of all was the charisma and confident professionalism of all 11 aspiring entrepreneurs—skills for a successful life and business.
