Developing health care in Asia
Throughout Asia, governments recognize the importance of health care and are investing more in health systems. ADBI and ADB co-hosted a 4-day policy dialogue; 150 public and private sector representatives spoke on health care in their countries and exchanged ideas on universal health coverage, particularly national health insurance. ADBI holds energy connectivity workshop in Dhaka
ADBI Dean Naoyuki Yoshino discussed new ways of financing renewable energy infrastructure. He was the keynote speaker at Capacity Building and Training on Power and Energy in South Asia on 21 October in Dhaka. Bangladesh's Nashrul Hamid MP, minister of power, energy, and mineral resources, also addressed the 2-day event jointly organized with the Institute for Policy, Advocacy, and Governance (IPAG). ADBI and OECD discuss green finance
As part of their extensive work on green finance and investment, ADBI and OECD recently co-hosted the 3rd Green Investment Financing Forum at ADBI. Learning from the success of previous forums, participants examined the challenges of and opportunities in green investment financing, as well as the benefits and implications of adopting it. Officials from the ministries of finance, energy, industry, and environment in India, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Thailand, and Viet Nam attended. Read more. Read more.

Importance of services trade and regulatory reforms in developing Asia
Services trade is crucial to any modernizing economy. Services can be inputs for goods production or outputs of networked production systems. Trade in services now accounts for around 26% of manufactured exports by developing economies. ADBI Deputy Dean Bokhwan Yu spoke of the importance of services trade in emerging Asia at a workshop organized by ADBI, International Management Institute-Kolkata, and Research and Information Systems for Developing Countries, 26 October, Kolkata. Participants from nine ADB developing member countries discussed services value chains, regulatory barriers, services trade reforms, e-commerce, and movement of people. Read more.

ADBI book launched at US–Japan housing roundtable
ADBI Dean Naoyuki Yoshino and ADBI research economist Matthias Helble presented their research on housing policies at the 2nd US–Japan Housing Finance & Capital Market Roundtable in Tokyo, 17 October. Around 200 attended, among them Japan Housing Finance Agency president, Toshio Kato, and Ginnie Mae president, Theodore W. Tozer. Dean Yoshino and Matthias Helble also launched their book, The Housing Challenge in Emerging Asia: Options and Solutions. Read more.
