Next year's retreats

The first retreat next year is Eat, Pray, Paint. Join iconographer Sue Orchison as part of a pop-up art community for fellowship, for learning and to bring a contemplative spirit and shared wisdom to your own art work. Friday, 24 February, to Sunday, 26 February.

An Emmaus Journey, presented by Fr Leo Coffey CSsR, will run from 27-31 March. This retreat journey is tailored for older retired people. An opportunity to relax and reflect peacefully on this second half of life … “Did not our hearts burn within us as he spoke to us on the road” Luke 24:32. A time to listen, a time to be quiet and a time to share.

This year's Marian Procession, moved to the warmer month of October, was a great success as more than 500 people flocked to the grounds of St Clement's for the occasion. Rector Fr John Airey (pictured) presided at Benediction. In his homily at Mass, Archbishop Christopher Prowse highlighted the Christian example given by Mary the Mother of God as the first true believer. She leads us on the way to be Magnificat people, he said.

Looking good for a new year

Greetings to all our friends,

This year, 2016, has seen plenty of rain and ample water for stock and crops. The countryside has never looked better. When the canola was in bloom we saw many people stopping on the roadside to take photos of the wonderful display.

I am in my first year back at St Clement's after many years and am gradually finding my way. The Redemptorist presence consists of Fr Pat O’Neill and myself. A very small community compared with past years.

We are indebted to a number of generous volunteers who regularly come to St Clement's to assist in keeping the grounds and buildings in good condition.

More and more people are becoming aware of this Retreat and Conference Centre and the facilities we have in this part of the Southern Slopes of New South Wales. No doubt this has been helped by the publicity we have received with a centrefold article in the Archdiocesan newspaper Catholic Voice, a four page colour feature in the Central West Lifestyle magazine and an article in the shire publication The Hilltops Phoenix.

Brother Clement, who is a resident at St Lawrence's in Harden featured recently in the local newspaper as one of the legends of the district.

The Marian Mass and Procession which has been held at St Clements for over half a century was transferred this year from May to October. It was attended on a bright sunny day by more than 500 people. Archbishop Christopher Prowse was the principal celebrant. In future the procession will be held at this time of the year. It is thought that the climate is more stable and better for outdoor celebrations.

The centre continues to have many bookings for retreats and conferences. Frequently it is a very busy place. Tourist coaches visit us from time to time and visitors on these occasions have the opportunity to enjoy the grounds and the meals that our staff prepare for them.

As this year approaches the end of activities at St Clement's I look forward to my second year in this wonderful location.
