Grandparents Day and Veterans Day

Great Grandparents, Grandparents and Special Friends Day – Thank you for celebrating the day that we set aside each year to honor you! Because this year Grandparents and Special Friends Day was on Veterans Day, we also thanked and celebrated those who have served our country. >>Continue Reading
This school year is an important year for Heritage School.  In March of 2017, AdvancED will conduct our five (5) year accreditation review. This review will help remind Heritage School of the things that we do best and will also help us understand areas where improvement may be a good option.
Parent completion of an AdvancED survey is a requirement for our continuing accreditation.  The Parent Survey is created solely by AdvancED.  Because AdvancED works with literally thousands of public and private schools, it is difficult for the survey to be personally fitted for Heritage School.  Heritage School cannot provide input into the content or type of questions.
However, we would like to provide a few pointers:
  • This is an online survey.
  • Not all of the questions apply to Heritage School.  If a question does not apply just check “Not Applicable”
  • Some of the terminology that AdvancED uses in the survey is different than that which we use.  Here are a few examples of terms in the survey that are different at our school:
 Survey                                    Heritage
Purpose Statement                 Mission Statement
Governing Body                     Board of Trustees
Stakeholders                           Parents/Guardians/Donors

We value your opinion.  Be assured that your responses to this survey will be anonymous and go ONLY to AdvancED. Your honest opinion is appreciated.

Please take about 10 minutes to complete the survey by clicking on this web link:

Thank you for your support for, and dedication to, Heritage School.

Lunch on the Lawn

Tomorrow is Lunch on the Lawn.  Our all school lunch will coincide with Spirit Friday held on the last Friday of each month.  Heritage Upper and Grammar school students will share lunchtime and fellowship together on the lawn at the Grammar Village.  All students who have not ordered pizza must bring a sack lunch.  Parents are welcome to participate, please obtain a visitors tag from the administration office prior to going to the Grammar School Village.  (Weather permitting.  In the event of inclement weather we will meet in MPAC)

Please join Head of School, Chris Acton for “Huddles with the Head” for a time of Q&A.  This week Chris will be joined by board trustee Kory Keller.  Topics include social media and technology.  For convenience, these times have been scheduled twice per month and coincide with either morning drop off or afternoon pick up. Grammar School Village

Kindergarten—praising God daily for all the many things we have to be thankful for
1st Grade--toured the Pioneer Museum and Vereins Kirche to enrich our history study of Fredericksburg
2nd Grade--visiting the Concepcion and San Jose Missions on Friday to see what like was like for the Indians living in a mission in the 1700's
3rd Grade--gearing up for our Thanksgiving Feast, with special guest Mrs. Rogers, who will grind wheat for us for our homemade bread
4th Grade--Each student has chosen a southern state to study and present to the class on Tuesday.  Each presentation will be accompanied by a food from that state - yum!!!
5th Grade--researching Egypt topics at the Pioneer Memorial Library. We also visited Fredericksburg Bible Church to learn more about the Tabernacle and view a model of it.
The Grammar School has enjoyed this playhouse for several years now; however, it is now time to find it a new home.  We would love to donate it to a Heritage family who would enjoy it.  If interested, please contact Mrs. Richburg:  tammy.richburg@heritage-school.net.

April Klepac Resigns

Heritage School is saddened to communicate that April Klepac, our School Secretary, has tendered her resignation effective the end of January, 2017.  Fortunately for Heritage, April has graciously offered to assist in identifying and training a replacement for her position. April has been the “face” of Heritage in the front office for 2 years this January, and she will be deeply missed.

April and Jimmy Klepac have been a part of the Heritage family since 2009 having had 2 Heritage graduates, Leighton and Avery, as well as a Heritage junior, Harleigh, and daughter, Tatum, in 8th grade at FMS.  Even though April will be stepping down from her position at Heritage, the Klepac family will always continue to be a major part of our family.

Pray with us as we seek an individual with the skills, patience, and enthusiasm to qualify for the position of Secretary, Heritage School.

For more information about the position, contact Cherilynn Eggleston, Assistant Head of School, at ceggleston@austin.rr.com or call the school at 830-997-6597 ext. 226.

Community Building

Upcoming opportunity to build community through serving others will be held at Heritage MPAC on Saturday, Nov. 19 from 3-5 pm.  A food-packing event, coordinated through Kids Against Hunger, will involve families from Heritage and is open to the community as well.  Kids Against Hunger will take care of the whole set-up—all we have to do is show up and put the meals together.  What a great occasion during this season of Thanksgiving to involve our children in giving of their time to feed others.  Ages 6-106 are invited to participate!!  Our goal is to have 100 volunteers who would pack 20,000 meals to send to Africa…all within 2 hours.  Each meal costs only 25¢; all donations are appreciated.   To sign up and be part of this exciting event, please email:  tammy.richburg@heritage-school.net
