In Flanders Field
I keep reminding our boys that we are living through an incredible period of “living” history, that will have far reaching effects on the world that they will live in.
It will be interesting to see how historians will reflect on this period.
It was therefore rather fitting that our Year 3 boys put on a really touching performance centred around “In Flanders Field” by John McCrae.
A poignant reminder of our recent history.

Reception Forest School Parent and Son Day |
|
It was so wonderful to see so many parents at our Reception Forest School Parent Day! What a memorable day we had.. sharing, learning, playing games, creating, laughing, reflecting and having fun! There was a letter this week in the fairy tree telling us about Autumn so we joined our parents collecting Autumn treasure which we later used to make some magic autumn sticks.

Year 3 Autumn Harvest at Forest School |
|
Year 3 have made the most of the Autumn harvest at Forest School by collecting different types of seeds mainly sweet chestnuts and acorns. We have played games to investigate seed dispersal using the wind, water, animals and humans. The Autumn colours have really been dazzling in Littleheath Woods this year we have been making the most of them.

Year 6 learns how to write Descriptive Essays
|
|
Year 6 have been writing descriptive essays in part of their preparation for the exams. This can take several formats but is currently about 'Someone who I admire.' It was very sweet of the boys who all look up to their mums and dads, which goes to show that whilst some are already growing into young teenagers, mum and dad are still closest to their hearts! |

ISA U11 London South Basketball Championships |
|
Elmhurst started with a convincing win over Oakfield ‘A’ team 4-0, with Temu Liburd-Appiah scoring both baskets. We then went on to top the group with a 6-2 win over Bronte an 8-4 win over Henriette Le Forestier ‘B’ team. This meant that a meeting with Rosemead, who had only narrowly lost to Henriette Le Forestier ‘A’ team in their pool, made up one of the semi-final matches. |

11 November 2016 |
|
To commemorate Remembrance Day 2016, Year 3 looked at the History of the poem ‘In Flanders Fields’ by John McCrae, who apparently wrote the poem on the step of an ambulance looking over the land where so many soldiers had fallen. |
