Dear Families,
It is the time of year again when we start gearing up for winter. One of the key parts of this process is ensuring the emergency phone system is operating properly This is critical piece of the communication cog. It is the fastest and most efficient way to let families know when school will be closed or delayed due to weather. It is important that we test the system and make sure it works well before we have to use it.
This Saturday I will be testing the emergency phone system. You should receive a call and email from the school letting you know we are testing the system. This will be happening Saturday afternoon. In many cases you will receive multiple calls as we typically input a few numbers to make sure the information reaches you. Please let me know after the test if you do not receive a call, if there is a number we should not call, or any other issue that might have occurred. I want to make sure the information is reaching you in the appropriate location. Please know we will do our best to make adjustments after the test to streamline the system.
I also want to remind you that during the winter months, each family has the discretion to decide if it is safe to make the trip to school during inclement weather. I try to make the best call for the entire school community and I get a lot of help from the surrounding schools when it comes to postponements or cancellations. We know, however, that in Vermont the weather can be very different depending on where you are and our students come from 18 different towns and cities. Even if roads are clear in Winooski, you may be facing some treacherous conditions in your home town and we completely understand that.
The safety of our students and their families is always the number one priority.
God Bless,
Eric Becker
