I'm happy to share that Sophie and Scottie's Adventures of the Monarch Mystery has just received the 2016 International Book Award Silver Medal for excellence in writing from Readers' Favorite!

Scottie's funniest flop!

"In Sophie and Scottie's Adventures of Something's Fishy, I'm wearing blue of course; a beautiful dress that was a little too fancy for me (if anyone asks) and leather-soled black shiny leather shoes.  I began to run on our wood dock next to the pond (you'll have to read why in this book) and found out that these shoes are really slippery and I began to slide on the wood. I tried to steady myself, you know, arms swinging in a backwards motion and you got it, I slid right into the pond just before Sophie and I were about to be a bridesmaid in our Auntie Jill's wedding!"

Ma's Chocolate Sheet Cake
Cake
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 cups sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup sour cream
Mix together above ingredients and then add:
2 sticks melted butter
1 cup water
4 tablespoons cocoa
Beat well and then add:
1 ½ cups semi- sweet chocolate morsels
Pour into a greased jelly roll pan and bake 350 degrees for 25 minutes; take out of oven and then frost.
Frosting
Bring to a boil:
1 stick of butter
4 tablespoons cocoa
6 tablespoons milk
Remove from heat and beat in:
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 1-pound box of powdered sugar
¾ cup chopped pecans
Cut into squares and serve with vanilla ice cream if desired; YUM!
