Important Update - BoEE Folder Numbers

We have some exciting news, but we need your assistance.  We are in our final stages of developing a common login for all AEA systems.  This will mean your email/password used in our training system will be used to login to the new statewide Registration System for courses, workshops, and more.  It will also be used for other systems, like our statewide Moodle server, and local AEA reservation systems.

However, in order for those systems to work properly, each user needs to have an updated BoEE folder number in their account.  This means either an actual folder number that they have from the BoEE website, or a system-generated number for those that do not have a folder number (e.g. a district custodian).  This has been a mandatory field in our system for 2 years, but for those who do not take trainings on an annual basis, they may not have yet completed this.

To add a folder number, individuals should first login to our system, and then go under their name down to "edit profile".

On the next screen, they will see the field where they can insert the number.  If they have something other than 0 (zero), they are all set.  Otherwise they will want to add one.  For those without a BoEE folder number, they will want to check the N/A box.  Then they will want to click the save button at the bottom of this section (not at the bottom of the employment section).

If you can help encourage your district employees to update this information, that will help ensure that there is no disruption to their access to our systems this spring as we convert them over to the new login.

Little Known Gems

While we have mentioned in the past the required/mandated trainings on our system, that is only the tip of the iceberg for what is available.  You have many other trainings at your disposal.  Here are some of the hidden gems on our system:

Diversity Awareness/Cultural Competence - This module helps to both build understanding around the different aspects of diversity, especially those that go beyond the most commonly thought of aspects, such as race or gender, as well to help build an understanding of how to be sensitive to different student culture.
Bullying Prevention - This module overviews the definition of bullying, what constitutes bullying behavior, and gives some basics in bullying prevention.  This module does not endorse a specific program (PBIS, Olweus, etc), but rather can be used as a foundational module for further district bullying training.
Iowa Science Standards Overview - An overview of the NextGen Science Standards, originally created for state science consultants, but available to all teachers.
FERPA, HIPAA, COPPA - Three separate trainings that look at the federal legal requirements around student privacy information.  This includes personal records, health records, and digital records.
Copyright and Fair Use - This module outlines the dizzying definitions and parameters of copyright, and help teachers understand what is (and is not) permissible within their classrooms.
