Dear Sisters and Brothers of the Skylands District,
This week is a time to celebrate the abundance of God's blessings in our lives and in our churches. Reflecting on all the gifts we have received, I am grateful for the pastors and laity of the Skylands District, and the ministries that each of you is fulfilling so that we can make a difference in our world. When so many want to lift up the scarcity of resources, time, or energy, I see an abundant blessing of the Spirit of God working through the congregations and individuals of our connection.
Ellen and I extend to you all our best wishes for this Thanksgiving holiday. I pray that this will be a time of hope and promise, looking forward to the beginning of Advent and the coming of God's greatest gift to our world. I pray that this will be a time of connecting or reconnecting with family and friends, and that a deep, abiding joy will be present with you as you gather at thanksgiving tables. I want each of you to know that, as the apostle Paul stated in his letter to the Ephesians, that I give thanks for you all unceasingly, for you are truly a blessing.
May God bless you this Thanksgiving, and may your joy be multiplied in this time of reflection and gratitude.
