Marriott – Autograph Collection Resort to open in Antigua and Barbuda

Antigua and Barbuda’s Minister of Tourism, Economic Development, Investment and Energy The Hon. Asot Michael has announced the entry of  a prestigious global hospitality brand Marriott hotel for Antigua and Barbuda.
Marriott International will expand its portfolio in the Caribbean with the latest addition from the brand’s Autograph Collection coming to the shores of the island of Antigua. The estimated $40 million project, which broke ground on November 29, 2016 will be situated just two miles west of the island’s capital, St. John’s, and a convenient six miles west of the airport.
The Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Minister said it was an honour to be participating in the significant groundbreaking ceremony both for Antigua and Barbuda and the Coconut Beach Resort Project by Marriott. Read more here

Donation from Wishing Well Inc. reaches heart of the students
The Wishing Well Inc. foundation continues its commitment to support the ‘Breakfast Programme’ at the Irene B. Williams (I.B.W.) Secondary School. This month’s donation will allow for over 100 students, who attend school without proper nourishment, to be provided with breakfast to start their day off on a good note.
“This donation will reach the heart of the students. We very much appreciate this 3rd consecutive donation. The benefits of a hot meal are evident in the students and they look forward to a healthy meal.” – Mrs. Barbara Gordon, President of the P.T.A.
Sandals Foundation donates to Fiennes
The Sandals Foundation donated a much-needed deep freezer, one of the items on a wish list, to the Fiennes Institute kitchen, on Tuesday. The philanthropic organisation used funds raised at a charity race earlier in the year to grant the gift.
On Father’s Day, the Sandals Foundation in collaboration with the Antigua & Barbuda Cycling Federation organised a 21.5 K Bike Race and a 10 K Run in aid of Fiennes. The government-run nursing home caters for the elderly and abandoned and currently has 67 residents. More here
The Wishing Well Inc. Truly Wishes Well
The Wishing Well Inc. (a charitable foundation) is truly wishing others well especially with their latest donations. This foundation donated in the form of The Epicurean Gift Vouchers to the Antigua & Barbuda Tourism Cadet Corp (ABTCC) in an effort to help make their upcoming Fun Day & Luncheon fundraiser a memorable event. This fundraiser is also one of the projects the students partake in to learn the various aspects of event planning and resource management. More here

Unique Properties GEMS of Antigua and Barbuda’ guide launched for small hotels and properties

The Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority has launched a “Unique Properties GEMS of Antigua and Barbuda Guide”.  The guide showcases Antigua and Barbuda’s smaller hotels and properties, many of which are owner managed offering an added value and a more personalised stay.

Represented at the exclusive launch event for the UK travel trade and media on Thursday, 10th November in London were 4 of the Unique Property owners - Mrs. Lorilyn Walker – Lamblion Holiday Apartments; Mr Roger Lewis – South Coast Horizons; Mrs. Shirmique Jeffers- Salmon – Connie’s Comfort Suites and Mrs. Jacqueline Cort - Thomas – The Villas at Sunset Lane. interCaribbean Airways increases air lift from Antigua to Tortola
Turks & Caicos based passenger carrier interCaribbean Airways will increase service connecting Antigua (ANU) and Tortola (EIS) beginning November 14th 2016.
As part of the Winter schedule, the airline increases connectivity between both island to daily service. interCaribbean Airways passengers will continue to have the ability to connect with British Airways service to London.
Trevor Sadler, CEO of interCaribbean Airways said, “We remain committed to the Antigua market while we look for ways to better serve the needs of the market, while maintaining a profitable operation”. More details here
