Advent Devotions
The Advent Devotions booklet is now available. They are located on the glass table in the Gathering Area. If you would like to have additional copies, please contact Becky at 864-486-1036 or beckyatjoy@bellsouth.net The devotions are also on the knowjoy.com/media web site.
Reverse Advent Calendar Event
As we enter into the Advent season, don't forget to take home a box to decorate and fill during Advent. Each day you "give" (instead of taking) a gift of food or toiletries that will be given to The Carpenter's Table and Midway Residential Home. The items will be distributed to those locations after Christmas when Advent is over. There is a list of suggested items available with the boxes.
Advent Wednesday Services
"God's Timing--Our Lives Are Not Our Own" Our time is not our own. We would like to believe that it is but it actually belongs to God. God's timing is different than our timing. In our hectic and busy lives how do we recognize that our time should count for something beyond much of what we actually do and accomplish each day? In a very busy time of year take time during the four Wednesdays in Advent to slow down and enter into God's time. Our evening Advent Wednesday Services will begin at 6:15. Stay after for a time of fellowship, homemade cookies and hot cider or chocolate.
Poinsettias for Christmas
It's time to order poinsettias to be placed in the sanctuary for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. You may place poinsettias in honor or in memory of someone or for the Glory of God. The cost is $10 per plant. Please complete the order form in Sunday's bulletin and place the form and check designated for poinsettias in the offering plate. At this time of year we are often asked for financial support from a member in need. This is supported by donations you make to Helping Hands. You may also make donations to Helping Hands using the same form found in the Sunday's bulletin.
Midway Christmas Party
Come and help us bring a little Christmas happiness to our neighbors from Midway Residential Home. Thursday, December 1, they will begin arriving about 2:30 in search of hot coffee and in anticipation of bingo, karaoke, pizza and maybe a visit from St. Nick! It takes many hands to provide all the fun. Come and join in on our fun! Contact Becky at the church if you have questions.
Men of Joy Christmas Party and Auction
Grab your friends, plan your tablescape, and collect items for the auction!! Join us Sunday, December 11th for an evening of fun, good food and fellowship all while raising money for SPIHN. You and your friends provide all the decorations and dining necessities for your table, including silverware and drinks. Sign up to bring either an appetizer or dessert. There will be a silent auction as well as a bidding auction. Bring items to be donated to the auction, but please no Yard Sale Items. You can ask businesses for donations, you can buy items, make something or be creative...offer a boat ride for 4 on the lake, offer three hours of baby-sitting, offer a weekend at your beach house, bake a cake, provide a weekend of pet-sitting!! Thrivent members can use Thrivent Actions Teams to purchase items for donations for the auction. All proceeds will go to benefit SpIHN. The actual auction will begin at 6:00. Don't be late, get here early so you can look over the items you want!
Kids' Choirs Christmas Program
You don't want to miss the kids' choirs Christmas program Sunday, December 18th. There will be no Sunday School that day so everyone can come and watch the program at 9:30 between the services.

LinC Adults will gather at the home of Matt and Jillian Cox for an evening of fun December 2, at 7:00.
Joy Youth will gather Sunday, December 4 at 5:00. Bring a friend and join the fun.
WELCA will have a Christmas gathering at Sharlene Teichmann's house, Tuesday December 6, at 6:30. Bring an appetizer to share. Bring a pair of wrapped Christmas socks exchange and don't forget Thankoffering. Watch for information regarding the Christmas project. Sign up in the hallway.
GIFT Ladies have two events in December. Friday, December 9, 7:00 at Marilyn Landon's house for a crazy socks for exchange and Sunday, December 18, 3:00 at Jean Veres' house for a cookie exchange. Contact Sue Stoner if you need more information about either of these events.
Kids' Quest will have a Holiday Gathering "Painting with a Purpose" at Hearts of Clay Pottery Studio, Saturday, December 10, 2:30 to 4:30. Please contact Karen Turner at keturner75@gmail.com if you need more information.

2nd Sunday Sweets will be December 11. Come grab a sweet treat as you head to Sunday School and Disciple Groups.at 9:30.
LinC Ladies will celebrate an evening together Thursday, December 13, at Kellie Geater's home at 6:00. Contact Kellie or Jillian for more information.
Don't forget the third Saturday of each month is our volunteer day at The Carpenter's Table. The entire family can serve this ministry together. Arrive by 8:45 to get your work assignment.
BBT Adult Dining group will have a Christmas gathering brunch at the Piedmont Club, Saturday, December 17. The cost is $19 per person and must be paid to Sally Dix by December 12.
December has a 5th Thursday and that means it is a special (Joy) bagging day at The Carpenter's Table. If you can help bag on this day, please come at 9:00.
LinC Adults will gather together to ring in the New Year, Saturday, December 31, 7:00 at the home of Avery and Lindsay McKenzie.
