"Art is not an amusement, nor a distraction, nor is it, as many men maintain, an escape from life. On the contrary, it is a high training of the soul, essential to the soul's growth, to its unfoldment."

Featured Art Documentary:

The Story of Women
and Art

This is a 3 part documentary that shows the story of women artists throughout the history of art.  Beginning back during the Renaissance in Italy when women were considered as “artistic inferiors” to men.  It’s a fascinating journey and worth watching!

News from the Studio

With the Christmas season fast approaching life always gets hectic.  I am looking forward to a new year and new projects in 2017.  News of a few changes to Caprice Fine Art & Co will be in the next newsletter…so please stay tuned for coming announcements!

On December 19th at 1pm MST (3pm EST), my interview with Dr. Theresa Nicassio will air on HealthyLife.net Positive Talk Radio.  I am looking forward to talking with Dr. Nicassio about passion for art, the power of imagination, the beauty of nature and much more.   For more information please click here to go to Dr. Nicassio’s website.

My Facebook LIVE broadcast aired on November 12 and despite some interruptions and internet issues it was a great success!  I find this to be a fabulous way to connect and interact with my followers.  My next Facebook LIVE event will be on December 10 at 1pm MST (3PM EST).   I will be discussing a question that was posted by one of the viewers.  Kat from California asked me about how not to feel guilty about enjoying and producing art during times of so much distress and pain.  She wondered if artists should put down their brushes and get out there to help others who are suffering?  I thought it was a very thought provoking question and will discuss it.  Please tune in and comment during the broadcast as I would love your thoughts.  If you miss the live broadcast you can watch the video in the Caprice Fine Art & Co Facebook feed at a later time.

Painting from the Vault!

Snow scenes are not always the most welcoming scenes…but this local barn with the warm colors reflected in the snow and water was a lot of fun!  This painting was done many years ago…back in 2000.

Book of the Month

The Group of Seven and Tom Thomson

by David Silcox

I am sharing this book in honour of the record breaking news last week of a Lawren Harris painting selling for 11.2Million at auction.  This is the most expensive Canadian painting ever sold.  You all know I am a big fan of Lawren’s paintings and the one that sold was particularly amazing…I had the pleasure of seeing the original several years ago at the Glenbow Museum.  The Group of Seven paintings truly are treasures in this country and this book illustrates them beautifully.
