Editorial

Dear all,

It seems like the autumn has flown by and that the holiday season is already upon us, which makes this is the last International newsletter of the year.

However, we still have time to tell you about many recent and upcoming international events.

Before I talk about the various international visits and activities at our university, I would just like to say a quick word on the new (revised) URV regulations governing double international degrees.

These regulations were passed by the Governing Council in October and offer both our own students and international students from partner universities the chance to obtain a double degree.

This is clearly a highly positive development and we know that some courses have already started to offer this possibility.

There have been many international visits this autumn, including visits from Mexico, Australia, Argentina, China and Morocco.

Each one brought interesting opportunities for the URV. We were also lucky enough to attend a wonderful presentation on how to internationalise our university by an expert who visited us from the Netherlands.

He also participated in a very fruitful working session with the URV’s Internationalisation Committee.

During the same period the URV also hosted a meeting of Spanish and Portuguese Universities that are members of the ISEP network. The ISEP network allows us to send and receive students from the USA.

All of these visits and events have been very successful, but there will be no let-up, as we are already working on implementing the mobility programme with countries outside of Europe (Erasmus + KA107), which will bring its own issues and challenges with it.

Also, we have already announced the call for outward mobility applications for our own students, and the call for the I-Networks grant, which will allow 10 of our students to attend an International Student conference on Global Citizenship organized by our partner UNPAR in Bali next January, to mention just a few of our ongoing projects.

Finally, I know it is still early but please allow me to wish you a very merry festive season, whatever your faith, and I hope that you enjoy the end of what has been a very intense 2016 before we meet up again at the beginning of yet another exciting and very international 2017!
