A firm foundation
We all know the story about the man who built his house upon the sand. When the storms struck, the home could not stand and its destruction was complete. But the man who built his house upon the solid rock with a strong foundation was able to withstand the floods and torrents because the house was well-built.
Jesus tells us that this man is like one who hears His words and puts them into practice. The Walk to Emmaus is one way we can dig a deeper foundation. This ministry encourages us to root further into God's word and hear what He has to say to us on a personal level. Then when the storms come -- and unfortunately they will -- we will be prepared to weather those trying times.
Emmaus equips us at different stages. On our own walks, we learn so much that helps us establish a foundation that we can build on for the rest of our lives. Working on subsequent walks rejuvenates us as we are sparked by the fire created in new pilgrims. Through all of this, the foundation of our entire community is strengthened.
This Thanksgiving season, we are thankful for many things: family, friends, health, freedom, and salvation. I am thankful for each one of you. You are what makes our community thrive! Without your love, support, prayers, and involvement, we would not be able to grow or do the wonderful things we accomplish throughout the year. We truly do have a strong foundation! Just like the man who built his house upon the rock, we want to continue heeding God's word and building upon what He has established in our area.
"With praise and thanksgiving they sang to the Lord: 'He is good; His love toward Israel endures forever.' And all the people gave a great shout of praise to the Lord, because the foundation of the house of the Lord was laid."
- Ezra 3:11
I look forward to seeing everyone at the Christmas Gathering!
God Bless,
