PhD. candidates in Engineering Education
The PREFER project is set to kick off on 1 January 2017. It will be a EU Knowledge Alliance project including universities, industry and other stakeholders (SEFI, FEANI,...) in the engineering profession within the Netherlands, Ireland and Belgium.
KU Leuven and TU Delft are looking for PhD candidates in the field of engineering education as part of a Knowledge Alliance on the Professional Roles and Employability of Future Engineers in the Erasmus+ programme. May 2017, Odense DK - The aim of the ETALEE 2017 conference is to look at forms of teaching and learning that motivate, activate and engage students. The conference is organized by the Danish Network for Engineering Education with the support of SEFI and is aimed at engineering educators and educational managers from Denmark, the Nordic countries and beyond. The language will be English. Deadline for abstracts is 16 December.
Education and Industry
In April 2017, the Ninth International Materials Education Symposium will be held at the University of Cambridge. This is the latest in an established series that have welcomed hundreds of materials educators to Cambridge over the past eight years. The Cambridge event is one of a worldwide series of three Symposia.

The 6th International Research Symposium on Problem Based Learning 2017 organized by the Universidad Nacional de Colombia in collaboration with the Aalborg Centre for Problem Based Learning in Engineering Science and Sustainability under the auspices of UNESCO, based at Aalborg University, Aalborg, Denmark.

WEEF & GEDC 2016 Seoul
6-10 November 2016 - Seoul hosted a meeting The World Engineering Education Forum and the Global Engineering Deans Council. The opening plenary had 1200 participants from all over the world. GEDC, IFEES and SPEED held their conferences and general assemblies at this occasion. A report from the event should be available soon at IFEES website.
New leadership of IFEES
During the IFEES General Assembly held at WEEF-GEDC 2016 Seoul, IFEES members elected five new Executive Committee Members and inaugurated Michael Auer as the new IFEES President. Uriel Cukierman will continue his leadership role within IFEES until 2017 as the Immediate Past President. Check out the new board members at this link. The SEFI SG, Françoise Côme, was reappointed the first Vice President of IFEES.
New president of SPEED 
At the WEEF 2016 in Seoul, the 12th Global Student Forum was organised by the Student Platform for Engineering Education Development. SEFI would like to congratulate the new president Avneet Hira, who is a PhD student in engineering education at Purdue University. Avneet was previously the SPEED Vice-President for Educational Content and her amazing work since the past one year ensured she got elected as the President.

European Digital Forum 2016 
28 November 2016 - Nesta, Open Evidence and the European Commission’s Startup Europe initiative organized the 2016 European Digital Forum in Brussels with a focus on Financing Growth and Growing Finance. Commissioner Carlos Moedas introduced changes in financing small and medium entreprises by engaging with big companies, which would bring 75% of the money to the table. This should eventually lead to keeping the growing entreprises in Europe. More information about the Forum is at this link.
7th European University - Business Forum 
6-7 April 2017, Brussels - The Forum will bring together 400 high-level representatives from higher education institutions, large companies, SMEs, relevant European organisations and associations, as well as national, regional and local authorities from Europe and beyond. Save the dates!
