From the moment we opened, we knew we were on to something special. Our guests came from far and wide, from our first guest who rode his recumbent from Manhattan to Boston, to one our last guests of the season - a family from Japan who arrived by bike and train with their adorable 18 month old on the back of the bike.  We had world travelers from a half dozen nations as well as others from all parts of the country, including  Long Island just looking for a unique getaway. 
 

During our first season, we hosted the New York Bicycling Coalition's inaugural Long Island Ride, as well as being  a rest stop for the Huntington Bike Club and the Hazon NY Training ride. We also sponsored a community boat ride on the "Discovery" for a wetlands cruise out of Stony Brook Harbor. We were also picked as a location by a lovely couple for their bridal suite, photo shoot and wedding night! So much has happened at the Inn and it has all been such a great time for all! 

 

Some came for family or friend visits, while others attended events at Stony Brook University.  But no matter what got our guests here to the area, everyone was  pleasantly surprised by the variety of options of things to do here.
For us, the highlight of our first season running the Inn was the appreciation we got from our guests.

Having people come through our door as strangers and leaving as friends was PRICELESS!

No matter what got our guests to the Inn, we loved hearing the stories of exploration and discovery and seeing everyone leave The Stony Brookside with a glow for the journey home.

 

We cannot wait until we reopen in the spring.  We have so many new surprises and offerings for our future guests, so please stay tuned.  And don't forget to share this with all your friends!
