African Diaspora Investment Symposium

Dear Friends and Members of the African Diaspora Network,

We are excited to announce the second annual African Diaspora Investment Symposium, scheduled from January 27 to 28, 2017, at the Doubletree Hotel by Hilton in San Jose, CA. This two-day symposium is heralded by last year’s success; the inaugural 2016 event, which drew over 230 participants from communities in Africa, Europe, Canada, and the US. The 2017 symposium will offer authoritative insights on development trends and opportunities in Africa, including topics ranging from financial inclusion to energy, agriculture, key trends on investment, to African women leadership and entrepreneurship.

The African Diaspora Network is a platform for developing global relationships and leveraging our connections as one family to change the narrative of Africa into one that is representative of its richness in talent, ideas, and resources. Join us as we engage in topics with leading experts, develop ideas into action, and build relationships across continents and countries.

As catalysts of change, we recognize the value, expertise, knowledge, and passion that you bring to the table. With these strengths in mind, we would like to extend a warm invitation to this engaging and informative symposium. Please RSVP at the Eventbrite page at here

Over the coming weeks, we will share more information on speakers representing the various ADIS2017 sectors.

We look forward to seeing you in January.

Thank you,
Almaz Negash

Spotlight on The Role of the African Diaspora

Almaz Negash, Founder of the African Diaspora Network, describes the importance of the role of African diaspora in the paper she wrote in 2013.

This
paper aims to highlight the role that members of the African diaspora can play in ensuring the renaissance of the African continent. Specific emphasis is placed on members of the diaspora who migrated to the United States from the seventies to today and their role in fostering economic development in Africa. The paper addresses the following question: what are the means to harness the intellectual capacity of members of the African diaspora in order to promote economic development?
