Advent Family Night this Sunday!
View this email in your browser
As we pause to ponder the blessings of God in these days of Thanksgiving,
we invite the words of Psalm 105:1-5 to resound in your hearts and home:
Give thanks to the LORD and call upon God’s name;
Make known the deeds of the LORD among the peoples.
Sing to the LORD, sing praises, and speak of all God’s marvelous works.
Glory in God’s holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the LORD rejoice.
Search for the strength of the LORD; continually seek God’s face.
Remember the marvels God has done,
The wonders and the judgments of God’s mouth!

BONUS:  We are trying something new this year along with our Christmas Program to get more children and youth involved and to showcase our Super Hero Talents!!!  We are offering a "Living Springs Got Talent" Show prior to the Pageant.  So if your child/youth has a special talent (joke telling, instrumentalist, dancer, singer, clogger, baton twirler, magic tricker, mannequin challenger, or other "super" talent to share), we want your child/youth to come on Sunday, Nov 27th at 1215pm and showcase that talent to us.  This will help us shape and design the Talent Show based upon what each person is performing.

We look forward to hearing from you!  We hope your child/youth will join us for this SUPER pageant and share in the story of Jesus' love born in a stable....for ALL!

Opportunity to Be a Worship Helper

Refresher Training Sessions 11/27

There will be refresher session on 11/27 for assisting ministers, lectors, ushers, communion assistants, greeters, crucifers, and torch bearers.  Did you wonder what is involved in serving in one or more of these responsibilities?  Expand your comfort zone – meet in the sanctuary at 9:30 am or contact Jim Zieche or Karen Kranz for information. One of the ways that Jesus showed us his love was by washing his disciples’ feet.  That was the job of a servant, but Jesus willingly took up that job. Show your love by being a worship assistant!

G.I.F.T. COMMITMENTS
AND TIME/TALENT SHEETS

We give thanks to God for all the 2017 Discipleship Commitments that were hung on our Growing in Faith Together trees during the past weeks, and for all the Time & Talent Sheets which have been offered.   Our G.I.F.T. trees (1 maple & 1 oak) are now planted on the church property!
If you were not able to offer a Discipleship Commitment yet, your sealed envelopes may still be deposited (along with all the others) in the G.I.F.T. box on the offering table behind the altar – or simply placed in the offering plate.   Basket for the Time & Talent Sheets will remain in the narthex for a few more weeks – we ask that everyone in the LS family please complete a Time & Talent sheet for the upcoming year!  Blank commitments and T/T sheets are located on the narthex table and in the office lobby.

Lessons for Sunday, November 27

First Reading: Isaiah 2:1-5

The visionary message presented in this reading focuses on a future day when God establishes a universal reign of peace. Divine decisions will make war obsolete, and the worshiping community responds: “Let us walk in that light of that Lord now!”

Psalm 122

I was glad when they said to me, “Let us go to the house of the Lord.” (Ps. 122:1)

Second Reading: Romans 13:11-14

Paul compares the advent of Christ to the coming of dawn. We live our lives today in light of Christ’s coming in the future.

Gospel: Matthew 24:36-44

Jesus describes his second coming as a sudden, unexpected event that will bring salvation or judgment upon people caught up in the usual affairs of daily life. He urges people to be alert and expectant.

Church Humor...

A preacher was completing a temperance sermon. With great expression he said, "If I had all the beer in the world, I'd take it and throw it into the river!" The congregation nodded their approval. With even greater emphasis he added, "And if I had all the wine in the world, I'd take it and throw it into the river, too!" The people clapped and were saying "Amen." And then finally, he concluded, "And if I had all the whiskey in the world, I'd take it and throw it into the river!"
As he sat down, the song leader then stood up quite cautiously and announced, "For our closing song, let us sing Hymn #365: "Shall We Gather at the River."
Do you have some church humor you'd like to share? We would love to share it too! Send your humor to Lisa in the office.
