Mr Hammond's Blog

What a fantastic performing arts evening on Tuesday this week! Song, verse, acting, piano, drums, flute, clarinet, saxophone, guitar and violin were represented at all levels from beginner to accomplished in nearly fifty performances from children in Years 4 to 8. The gym was packed with parents and supporters which added to a great atmosphere, suitably fuelled by a glass of wine and Wendy’s peerless cheese straws!

It’s Maths Day! In the next few weeks, make sure you learn a new times table, solve an extra tricky puzzle or even try a sudoku.

Year 3 had a wonderful day at Kent Life on Tuesday 22nd November. They learnt about how people traded in the Stone Age and were able to look at a range of weapons.

The house lights were dimmed and the stage set for another highly successful Performing Arts evening.  To a packed audience, a record number of students prepared to perform to friends and family. There was an air of anticipation as dancers put the finishing touches to their costumes, clarinet reeds checked and violin strings tuned.

We have our first 'Grand Masters'. In order to obtain a black belt it is necessary to answer 30/30 questions correctly. The Grand Master status was implemented to give a further level to aspire to and the bar was set quite high. To achieve Grand master status it is necessary to obtain 8 black belts in a row.

The first three months have flown by and I already feel like I have been here for ever! Skippers is such a welcoming school and both children and staff couldn’t have done more to make me feel at home.

Star of the week

There was no star of the week this week as there was no Celebration Assembly. The focus was on Anti bullying and being kind. (Do take a look at our kindness tree outside the Dining room.) Star of the week will be back for the next newsletter.
