The Remembrance Tree
The HUMC Remembrance Tree will again be displayed in our Narthex this Advent season. The tree is put up annually and decorated completely with ornaments that honor friends or family members who have died. Purchase ornaments from the UMW for $10 to honor your loved ones. We will provide a gold pen for you to inscribe their name or we can do it for you. This year’s sale runs Sunday, November 27 through December 18. After the holidays, ornaments are stored by us to use again next year. You can honor your loved ones for years to come. Names on the ornament as well as the donor’s name are being collected in a memory book.

Family Advent Activity
Join us as we welcome the Advent season decorating gingerbread houses on December 4 at 9:30 a.m. in Fellowship Hall A. This is a family event for all. Parents, kids, brothers, sisters, grandparents, and grandkids are all welcome to join in the fun! All children will receive “A Deep Blue Star” activity book to guide them through the advent season, as we anticipate the birth of our Savior. Hope to see you there!

Women of HUMC – You’re Invited!
Our local unit of United Methodist Women is comprised of three “CIRCLES” that meet the 2^nd Thursday, September through May. Circles are a time for spiritual growth, mission & service activities and food & fellowship. At our Thursday, December 8 meetings, all circles will be packing boxes of cookies for senior citizens served by the Hinsdale Community Services food pantry. We would love to have you join us!

Any plans for Monday, December 5 at 7:00? The United Methodist Women would like you to join them for their annual Christmas party and officer installation. Be ready for a great start to the Advent season with an evening of food, fellowship, and fun. Membership not required – we hope to see all women of the church and their guests at this festive event.

Membership Exploration Class 
All are invited to our Membership Exploration Class Sunday, December 11 at 9:30 a.m. in Fellowship Hall. Participation does not obligate anyone to become a member of Hinsdale UMC. The class is available to anyone interested in learning more about the United Methodist Church globally and locally. Monthly Women's Fellowship
All women of the church are invited to our Monthly Women's Fellowship on the third Thursday of the month for food, fun, and fellowship! Join us in December on Thursday, December 15 at 7:30 p.m. at Fuller House in Hinsdale. Please contact Kristi Chadwick with questions.

"Sounds of the Season" Concert
The Cantores Community Choir will present “Sounds of the Season” on Saturday, December 17 at 4:00 p.m. at HUMC! This special Holiday Musical Celebration will be directed by Belford Hernandez and feature the Chamber Choir from Montini Catholic High School. This is a FREE benefit concert.

Valet Parking
A reminder that Valet Parking is available to those in need. Please pull up to the double doors of the East side of the church where ushers will be looking. If you don’t see one, come into the church and hand your keys to an usher and your car will be parked. With the cold, icy weather approaching we need to be aware of our fellow church members who might need assistance walking from the parking lot into the church. Please take notice and help where needed.

What do the candles in our Advent wreath mean?
Advent begins Sunday, November 27. During each Sunday of the Advent season, we focus on one of the four virtues Jesus brings us: Hope, Love, Joy and Peace. The Christ candle is lit on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day reminding Christians that Jesus is the light of the world. The wreath continually reminds us of whom we are called to be as followers of Jesus.

All Adult Sunday School classes will join together for this experience a "The Wonder of Christmas". This all church Advent Experience explores the true wonder of Christmas through the lens of four elements of the Christmas story: a star, a name, a manger, and a promise. Learn more here

Wednesday Noon Bible Study
We are using “Believe: Living the Story of the Bible to Become Like Jesus” by Randy Frazee as one of our primary resources for our Wednesday Noon Bible Study. Feel free to come every Wednesday or any Wednesday that you are available. Bring your lunch, bring your questions, bring your laughter, and experience God’s love. Wednesday Evening "Rediscovering the Rose"
Beginning November 30, this supportive discussion group will meet Wednesday evenings at 7:00 p.m. and is for women who are dealing with the challenges of divorce and/or separation. The group is an opportunity to share, listen, and learn ways to grow personally and move beyond the hurt. ALL discussions are confidential. The group with be facilitated by Jacki Peterson-Sluder.
