NCMEC Launches Free Child Safety App
The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) has created a free child safety app to help parents and law enforcement in the event that a child goes missing. The app, Safety Central, provides the latest news, media, and child safety tips from NCMEC. The app is designed as a digital child ID kit that allows parents to save children’s information, including photos and digital fingerprint images. It also includes a search feature for current missing children.
Safety Central is FREE to download and use on both Apple and Android devices!
Thank you Chesapeake Public Strategies for granting The Tree House CAC of Montgomery County Maryland $1,000! The grant is part of its 10 Powerful Acts of Kindness in 2016 program, a program created to assist non-profits that serve children in need. We especially want to thank their President & CEO, Ellen Bogage, for this generous gift!
We know there are many worthwhile charities
for you to donate to on Giving Tuesday.
We hope you choose to support The Tree House CAC.
We gratefully thank you.
#MyGivingStory is a nationwide campaign and social media storytelling contest that fosters a public discussion about the reasons people give. Donors, volunteers, and community members are being asked to reflect on why they give to a certain nonprofit organization, and then share these personal stories on social media. The winners’ featured nonprofit organizations will receive grant prizes of $2,500-10,000!
What inspires you to give? Tell the story of a time you supported a nonprofit organization in a way that was meaningful to you. Include which organization you gave to and why.
Submissions will be open until December 31st, 2016 at 5pm ET.
It started innocently enough. Ken Salins, one of our many wonderful supporters, mentioned that his employer, Digital Infuzion, was interested in donating Thanksgiving meals to our families. Soon, with the help of other area businesses and families, "Operation Turkey Dinner" was born! All together we collected baskets for 18 of our families!

We also have an Amazon wish list that our therapists have created. In it are books and other items that are very helpful in our work. You can access that list at http://a.co/ikVAAaC.
The Montgomery Village Kiwanis Club is working very hard to help The Tree House, and they are doing a great job! Here are just a few of the fundraising events and sales they have planned in the coming weeks:
Sales of the Official White House Christmas Ornaments,
and Gift Wrapping services! (SSL hours offered for volunteers)
We want to thank Sheena Saydam of Saydam Properties Group, for her tireless efforts in support of The Tree House. This fall alone she has held a party for us, run a bake sale for us, and organized a spinning class for us. Who knows what will be next?!
Help us spread the word about The Tree House. Forward this newsletter to a few friends!
