EMBODYING THE ART OF FENG SHUI

When my clients come in to have a session, many of them notice the rocks over the drain of the sink and shower in the bathroom and some even asked why I have them there.  This is what has inspired me to write the article for this month’s newsletter on Feng Shui.

Feng Shui (pronounced: fung shwee) is a way of creating harmony between humans and our environment to enhance our well being.  It is an ancient Chinese theory of design and placement which grew from observations that people are affected, either positively or negatively, by their surroundings, with some places being noticeably luckier, happier, healthier or more peaceful than others.  Good Feng Shui helps create harmonious family relationships, fosters good health, revives energy and enthusiasm and even cultivates abundance and prosperity.  By changing your surroundings Feng Shui allows you to change your life for the better.

So in the spirit of the holidays, I wanted to share some tips for keeping energy at an even level (if not better) so as not to add any more stress than there already is to you, to your home, to your guests, to your health and even during your travels.

Enjoy and Happy Holidays!

Cover Drains To Prevent Money Going Down The Pipes

According to Feng Shui, you should cover holes and drains in the sink or tub with rocks to keep energy and money from going down the drain.  Keep the toilet lid closed, especially when you flush, to prevent that energy and money from going down the pipes.

Don't Invite Depressing Energies To Be A Guest At Your Dinner Table

Feng Shui says that you should use only side-lighting (lamps and/or candles) as opposed to overhead lighting while entertaining and servicing your holiday dinner.  Harsh overhead lights can create shadows, which, in turn, on a very subtle level, can cause depressing energies to be invited as a guest at your dinner table as well.  Overhead lighting is also believed to lead to the creation of floating anxiety in the atmosphere - something we want to avoid at all costs at any celebratory gathering.

Traveling For The Holidays? Carry A Shell.

If you are traveling for the holidays, Feng Shui says to carry a small conch shell with you and then to place it in the 'FAME' area of the room (hotel or even the guest room at the house you are staying in) as this will bring you travel luck as well as recognition and rewards while raising your social status too.  The 'FAME' area is located in the back middle or back center of any room and putting a conch there will fill that same space with fortune, opportunity and, of course, luck.

Take a Shower Before Leaving on Your Journey

If you are traveling for the holidays or are a guest somewhere, Feng Shui says to take a shower or bath before leaving on your journey.  This will cleanse and clear your aura and put you in a beautiful space before you come in contact with others.  If you cannot shower or bathe at least wash your hands and feet before leaving on your journeys.

Drink A Cup Of Chamomile or Peppermint Tea If You Overindulge

If you overindulged on the turkey and mashed potatoes from Thanksgiving last week, drinking either a cup of chamomile or peppermint tea will quell the queasy.  And there is this remedy to stop indigestion from India:  Crush one teaspoon of fenugreek seeds and steep them in 1 cup of boiled water for five minutes.  Strain and drink slowly and you will feel better in about ten minutes.

Angels and Cherubs are Lucky Symbols to Have Around You

Although this advice is something quick and easy to do it is still really powerful and will bring you blessings and grace.  This Feng Shui modality says that angels and cherubs are lucky symbols to have around you.  The supposition is that they fill any room where they are placed with good will, peace and a fairy-tale atmosphere.

Wear Yellow To Bring Tranquility And Peace

It is very Feng Shui to use yellow mums as your choice of decoration and be sure to have them placed strategically throughout the house.  These plants are thought to bring tranquility and peace as well as a heaping helping of money and happiness too.  And if you wear yellow throughout the month you will get all of that three times over.
