Shannon Ridge
Cabernet Sauvignon
& Wrangler Red Blend
Over the years, we've featured the wines of Shannon Ridge numerous times and with each new vintage we fall in love with these wines all over again. You will be hard pressed to find any red wines from California that could top the combination of price, taste and complexity that this family of wines exhibits. This weekend we are highlighting Shannon Ridge High Elevation Collection Cabernet Sauvignon and Wrangler Red Blend, both from Lake County, California.
The Shannon Ridge 2014 High Elevation Cabernet Sauvignon is rich in color. The '14 vintage was the third drought year in a row, concentrating the flavors in the Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. It has woodsy aromatics (18 mos French Oak) backed up by black berries and black currants. Mocha coffee, Anise, vanilla and pie spices also fill the glass. Nicely spiced with hearty notes of spiced oak. Firm, ripe tannins will allow this wine to age for 8-10 years.
The Shannon Ridge 2013 High Elevation Wrangler Red is a deep garnet, Bing cherry color. It has aromas of ripe cherry, blackberry, tobacco and rich chocolaty notes. The flavors include blackberry, dusty cherry, cinnamon spice and sweet tobacco. It’s a rich, polished wine with supple tannins, nice balance and a lush, lingering finish.
