Here's a taste of what's in store for 2017
- The growth of our Wildlife Observer Network to coordinate wildlife research efforts throughout the Bay Area.
- The development of a blueprint to keep natural landscapes connected from the Mayacamas Mountains to the Berryessa Snow Mountain National Monument.

Science in the schools
"When I went to Pepperwood I got to learn so many things," said Caidence, a 5th grade participant in our Students Conducting Environmental Inquiry (SCENIQ) program. "Everybody is kind and they made you feel like you are part of the wilderness. Pepperwood is truly an experience of a lifetime." Thanks to you, SCENIQ brings science to life for over 800 elementary school students each year! Your donations provide fee waivers and transportation scholarships to children from Title 1 schools. You're helping to instill a love of nature and an appreciation for science in the next generation—so vital when today's grade school students are receiving less than an hour of science instruction each week! Click here to learn more about SCENIQ and read more student-submitted stories about their experiences at Pepperwood. Thank you for making a difference in the lives of local youth.

SRJC partnership
Pepperwood and the Santa Rosa Junior College partner to offer a two-semester Natural History of Pepperwood course that provides an excellent overview of the natural world. Participants who complete both semesters can choose to become certified UC California Naturalists. In fact, this course was the pilot for what is now a state-wide certification program! This year, we asked students to share their experiences by writing articles for our blog. Jennifer Roberts, an environmental educator by trade, wrote a great overview of the course. "Each week a different topic is explored," she wrote. "Everything from soils, geology, plants, and animals, to weather, climate, history and even sketching in nature is covered... I am pleasantly surprised by how my ability to examine and observe my surroundings has improved in just a few classes." Read the rest of her article here.
