Cumbria Wildlife Recorders' Conference 2017

At last Saturday's 6th annual Recorders' Conference we were once again inspired by all the talks on exciting projects, innovation and wildlife, and by a packed house of recorders from all around the county. We would once again like to thank all the speakers and delegates, whom together made for a very enjoyable day. We were also thrilled with all the very positive feedback and will aim take on-board any of your comments about how we can make the day even better for next year. We'd love you to be able to make it again next year so we're giving you a date now to stick your diary before anything else gets in the way:

Cumbria Wildlife Recorders' Conference 2017
Saturday 18th November at Tullie House Museum.

Recording Days 2017

We're already looking forward to next summer, and with it another series of Recording Days. We are currently building up a list of potential sites to visit, which come January, will be whittled down to what we can fit into 4 days. If you have any ideas for sites that meet the following criteria, please do let us know by January:

Your site suggestion/s should be (ideally):
  • Private
  • Of conservation interest / protected (e.g. SSSI)
  • Accessible (parking available nearby)
  • Seldom visited by Recorders - check with us if unsure.
It doesn't matter if the site is small as we can cover more than 1 in a day if we have 2 in close proximity. The 2017 Recording Day dates for your diary are:

Recording Days 2017
13th June (Tuesday)
24th June (Saturday)
18th July (Tuesday)
19th August (Saturday)

Submitting your 2016 records

It's that time of year again when many of us can take a breath and type up all our field notes from the passed year, evoking memories of some great days out in our stunning county. We'd like to ask that you try and submit all your 2016 Cumbrian records by Mid-January 2017 at the latest, whether that be via iRecord or directly to us so that they can be processed, verified and put to work as quickly as possible, and meet some important national deadlines.
