Caring Hands Meets Saturday
Gathering Nov. 19 from 8:30a to noon – drop in as you can
This busy group ties fleece blankets for hospitals, knits hats for children of Lake County Court services, crochets prayer shawls for those in need of comfort, prayer and care, and so much more. A task for every ability and interest. Drop in as you can. (Note that there is no meeting in December.) Questions to
caringhandsvernonhills@gmail.com.

Manna Gift Card Orders Due Sunday
Next Orders Due Nov. 20, Dec. 4 and Dec. 18
The Manna Program supports non-profit organizations by giving a portion of purchases back to the group to support our church and school. Dozens of national and local vendors participate in the program that gives anywhere from 2 to 25 percent back to us. Are you giving gift cards to teachers this holiday season? Manna gives you the same gift card you can buy at the store, but Christ Lutheran will get a percentage back. Great for gifts, and for your own shopping – if you shop at Jewel, for instance, you can buy your shopping cards ahead and use them just like cash. You can order with a
paper form and a check made out to "Christ Lutheran" or go right online (www.mannaorders.net) and set up an account. Our organization number is 2384, and volunteer Penni Sauer (penry4@gmail.com) can provide you with a family log in code and further assistance. Cards arrive in about a week. Next orders due this Sunday.

Donations Continue for Empty Bowls
Every dollar to the COOL Pantry serving Lake County and beyond
Thank you to all who organized, staffed, sponsored, participated and otherwise supported this year's Empty Bowls Soup Supper. More than $800 was raised. Bowls are still available for a suggested donation of $10. We are hoping to raise $1000, which was our mark last year. Special thanks to Jason's Deli and Panera Bread for their generous donations to our supper! Questions to Penni Sauer (
Penry4@gmail.com).

Christmas Choir & Music
Let's make a joyful noise! First rehearsal Dec. 4.
We plan to convene the Christmas Choir, which will sing at Christmas Eve Worship on Saturday, Dec. 24 at 4 p.m. We'll practice for 15 or 20 minutes after Sunday service on December. 4, 11 and 18. Simple, familiar songs – sing melody, sing harmony, or sing something unique to you – we will keep it fun and easy. If you can't make the rehearsals, please let Pastor or Lynn Brandl know so you can feel comfortable joining us on Christmas Eve. Musicians, please consider pulling out any and all instruments to add to the celebration. Music is available or suggest a song you love. Thank you!

Cottage Meeting Worksheet
Please take a moment to offer your input

As part of our journey through the Pastoral Call Process, it is important for us to examine our ministry and our path. Please share your thoughts on some general questions about Christ Lutheran by downloading, completing and returning (to the offering plate) the quick Worksheet that was first distributed at the November 12 Cottage Meeting. Thank you.

COOL Ministries – Vegetables & Thanksgiving Meals
Or any non-perishable items/donations
The need for emergency assistance continues to grow, and COOL (Christian Outreach of Lutherans) does so much to help all who come to them at their Waukegan-based ministries. Each month we focus on one type of nonperishable item, but all items are welcomed (baskets in the hallway). For November, we are gathering canned vegetables; for December, canned meats (tuna, spam, etc.). We are also gathering items for Thanksgiving Meals, which are due back at church by Nov. 21 at noon so that Rob Jost can deliver in time. Check the Cool Ministries website –
coolministries.org – for more information as well as on-line donation opportunities. Or download the Thanksgiving Shopping List.

Lutheran Disaster Relief
Helping victims of floods, earthquakes, unrest
Lutheran Disaster Response is part of our larger church's effort to bring comfort and safety to the world. It is known as one of the most effective and efficient relief organizations in the world. Workers have been helping Gulf Coast flood victims since that crisis began, and they are already heading to Italy to support earthquake victims. If you would like to support this effort, donate through the
ELCA Disaster Response website.
