On October 29 Michael T. Puff visited Ryan Gallery to lecture on his work as he guided us through the gallery of his immaculate platinum and palladium prints. He described his process of capture, editing and printing, revealing many of the stories behind the creation of particular images, such as Phoenix Rising (below). Michael also spoke about his dedication to continue to offer fine art works that are easy for people to own, and his desire for the work live beyond gallery walls in the homes of art appreciators.
Saturday, following the talk, Michael taught his handcrafted printing process to a group of eager participants in the Art Intersection Photographic Arts Labs. All of the participants made beautiful work and gained a newfound respect for this detailed 1870s printing process.
