Mission: "To empower and mobilize our community to reduce the use of alcohol, marijuana and other drugs by Indian River County youth through education, support, collaboration, and action."

FRIDAY NIGHT DONE RIGHT

Friday Night Done Right" is a common chant among high school students in Indian River County! The FNDR campaign focuses on activities teens would prefer to do on a Friday night rather than drinking alcohol or using drugs.

...talking, movies, miniature golf, bowling, eating, dancing, laughing, sports, music, dream, volunteer, chill... Friday Night Done Right!

The youth in Indian River County are empowered by positive alternatives. Thank you Indian River County business community for your partnership, support, generosity and commitment to Friday Night Done Right in Indian River County!

DATE: First Friday of Every Month (starting December 2, 2016)

We had the Town Hall Meeting on November 10

Substance Abuse Free Indian River (SAFIR) coalition is pleased to announce the Indian River County’s  2016 Town Hall event on Thursday November 10th 6-7pm. This event will be held  at the IRC Sheriff’s Office located at 4055 41st Ave. in Vero Beach.  The theme this year is Social Hosting, and the dangers of underage and binge drinking. A panel of professionals will join us for this very important discussion.

Panel Participants are: Robin Dapp, SAFIR Coalition Chair, Eric Flowers, Lieutenant of Public Affairs, Sheriff’s Department, Liana Urfer, M.D., Meredith Jones, Attorney and Brian Lange, Parent.

The evening will be moderated by a high school and a middle school student. Underage/binge drinking has been a growing problem nationwide, and even more prevalent in our county with our youth.  This behavior is inappropriate, dangerous and illegal. Our hope is, by presenting the facts candidly and truthfully, we will reduce and eradicate underage drinking in Indian River County.

From Christina DeFalco “When our children were little , we held their hand while crossing the street – why do we “let go” when they reach middle school and high school age?”

Prevention is a partnership, and prevention works. We hope that you will join us in support and collaboration regarding this critical endeavor.
