Sustainable Neighbourhoods News

Action on a plastic bag ban
We recently became an official ally of the Boomerang Alliance, an umbrella for national waste and recycling campaigns.  Becoming an ally means that the Sustainable Neighbourhood Alliance is included as a signatory to their plastic pollution campaigns, and that we can better align our actions to compliment the national effort.
They are working hard to campaign around a number of plastic pollution issues, including this letter to Environment Ministers, urging them to take action on single use plastic bags at their upcoming Ministers' meeting on 25 November.
You can take action to support the campaign.
Cardiff Christmas Car Boot Sale
With Christmas just around the corner, the Cardiff Area Sustainable Neighbourhood Group's Car Boot Sale is set to be another great day!
Stallholders will be offering a host of bargains including toys, plants, jewellery, jams and good quality second hand items.
Enjoy the coffee van, sausage sizzle, kids' activities, and acoustic music, and settle in with your friends for a round of barefoot bowls.
We hear that Santa himself will be making an appearance at 11am.
Saturday 27 November, 9am - 1pm
Cardiff Bowling Club, 175 Myall Road

Celebrate Sustainable Neighbourhoods
Catch up with Sustainable Neighbourhood volunteers from around Lake Macquarie for an end of year celebration.
  • Presentation and Q&A with the Cardiff Area Sustainable Neighbourhood Group about their successful Car Boot Sale events.
  • Plastic free afternoon tea
  • Shared discussion and ideas
Saturday 3 December
2 - 5pm

Location:  Landcare Resource Centre, Teralba
All welcome!
RSVPs essential via 4921 0117 or email.

Afternoon tea will be provided, but you're welcome to bring along a favourite treat to share.  Help us make it a plastic free event by avoiding single use plastic wrap and packaging.  And remember to bring a reusable container to take home leftovers.
Congratulations and thank you to our Alliance Board members who were all successfully re-elected to the board for the coming 12 months.
The draft minutes of the Annual General Meeting, including reports, and a summary of Sustainable Neighbourhood projects is available here.
We look forward to another productive year in 2017.
