Hej Alla,
One of the most celebrated U.S. Holidays, Thanksgiving Day is observed tomorrow Thursday November 24. You can read more about the history of Thanksgiving in this week's Finally Friday and you’ll also find some suggestions of how you can volunteer helping others to enjoy this Thanksgiving Holiday weekend. Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays as it for me represents gratitude and giving, qualities one hope to have not only on this festive day but throughout the year, it’s a nice reminder of inclusion of all, to share and to be thankful. There are lots of studies and articles on the benefits of gratitude that suggest to improve both physical health, personal relationships and proposes that it can even boost ones work conditions. As an example out of many, I included a commentary from The Huffington Post on the subject via a link here as I wish you have more and more to be thankful for in your life.

In the early 17th century, the Plymouth colonist and Wampanoag Indians shared an autumn harvest feast, giving thanks for the blessing of the harvest and of the preceding year. Today, this historical feast has been acknowledged as one of the first Thanksgiving celebrations. However, it wasn't until 1863, in the midst of the Civil War, that Abraham Lincoln proclaimed a Thanksgiving Day to be held each November.
Thanksgiving is a national holiday in the United States and is celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November each year. Lots of families celebrate Thanksgiving Day together and show gratefulness to each other while enjoying a feast that generally involves roasted turkey, mashed potatoes and delicious pumpkin pie.
However, lots of people are not so fortunate in today's society and in the spirit of giving back during the Thanksgiving Holiday, you have the opportunity to help making this holiday feel special for someone by volunteering on the actual day and throughout the Holiday Weekend. You might remember a documentary from a few years back called "An inconvenient truth" on environmental issues. SACC-LA member Cleantech Invest and its portfolio companies will host an event under the spinoff title "The Sexy Truth", on November 29th, 2016.
"The Sexy Truth" afterwork event will be held in the amazing G Live Lab, Helsinki and will feature live music, free drinks and food, and a live talk show called "Between 2 Beers" where entrepreneurs from their portfolio companies and other cleantech stakeholders will be interviewed on stage, providing you with the information you need to understand the evolving cleantech investment space and the opportunities for environmental and financial returns.

No plans for the Thanksgiving Holiday yet? Why not celebrate the Holiday with SACC-LA member, Malibu Farm. On the Malibu Pier a festive Thanksgiving Dinner will be served tomorrow, Thursday, November 24th with three seating times available; 12pm, 3pm, and 6pm. Online reservations are already closed, but if you want to see the availability for a last minute spot, follow the instructions here.
If you already have plans on Thursday, maybe you want to visit the pier on Friday, November 25th instead and build your own Gingerbread House. A fun activity for both kids and adults!

The saffron bun is a Swedish traditional treat with strong connections to the Swedish celebration of Lucia and Christmas Holiday. This sweet yeast roll flavored with golden saffron is often made into different shapes but is traditionally shaped into the figure of an 8. For a very long time this delicious treat has been baked in Swedish homes during the Holiday season. When making saffron buns, you better make a large batch since they are perfect to put in the freezer and take out whenever you long for some Holiday spirit.
