Breakfast With Mrs. Claus
Raffle tickets are now available for an exclusive chance to have breakfast and a story with Mrs. Claus at the Granger House! Tickets are $5 each and can be purchased at the Marion Chamber office, Marion Public Library, and Hills Bank & Trust, 800 11th St. Tickets will also be available at Christmas in the Park on Dec. 2. Youth Programs


Little Stars Basketball (2017)
Children Age 4
Players meet for 5 instructional classes to work on very basic ball handling, shooting, and passing skills. Parents are also welcome and encouraged to participate with their child.
Fee: $36.00, includes program shirt
Days/Dates: Saturdays, February 4–March 4
Time(s): Saturday mornings
Location: Echo Hill Elementary School
Registration Deadline: December 16, 2016

Shooting Stars Basketball (2017)
Children Grades K–1st (Fall 2016/17)
This instructional program works on the basic skills of dribbling, passing, and shooting. Players spend the first 2 meetings working on skills and practicing with their team and coach(es),
then scrimmage the remaining 3 meetings. There are NO additional practices. VOLUNTEER COACHES NEEDED!
Fee: $36.00, includes child’s team shirt
Days/Dates: Saturdays, February 4–March 4

Location: Echo Hill and Bowman Woods Elementary Schools

Indoor Blastball  Children Age 3
Blastball helps prepare players for organized baseball/softball in a fun, non-competitive environment. Children will be introduced to the fundamentals of throwing, hitting, and fielding while fostering the values of teamwork and good sportsmanship. VOLUNTEER COACHES NEEDED! Limited number of spots vailable.

Fee: $33.00, includes child’s team shirt
Days/Dates: Saturdays, February 4–March 4

Location: Bowman Woods Elementary

If you are on our mailing list, you will receive in early January. If you are not on our mailing list, you will be able to pick up your copy at Lowe Park, Thomas Park, City Hall, or the Marion Library.

PARKS NEWS

Snow/Ice Removal: Per City Ordinance 141.03 “Removal of Snow, Ice and Accumulations,” property owners are required maintain their sidewalks and that snow and ice shall be cleared within 12 hours after the snow or ice has been deposited on the sidewalk.

The entire sidewalk along the property must be cleared, including any corners leading into the street. If the snow/ice is not removed by the date and time stated above, the City will clear the sidewalk. The resulting charges will be 85 cents per square foot, plus a $25 administrative fee.

Volunteers Needed to Serve on Marion Boards & Commissions

Do you want to provide input on City policies and help shape both our city and its government? Apply to be one of 100+ volunteers that serve on Marion boards or commissions.

A number of positions are currently available including:

  • Local Option Sales Tax (LOST) Oversight Committee
  • Zoning Board of Adjustment
  • Planning and Zoning Commission
  • Historic Preservation Commission
  • Code Construction Review Board
  • and more

Marion residents interested in being considered for a position may pick up an application at Marion City Hall, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m.-5 p.m., or download an application online.
