We hope all survived the Black Friday craze and heading for the last push with silly season upon us before a very challenging 2016 comes to an end. For many a well deserved break is in store and you can't wait; but please be reminded Triathlon Season is in full swing; with still two triathlons in store before you finally let your hair down.
The season has been pretty successful to date and congratulations to all our Champions achieving podium position with fantastic results in the various Triathlons to date. For the up and coming aspiring new triathletes in their first season; keep at it and good to see you beginning to understand the world of the spandex conversations. We definitely so much more than that! Thank you to everyone for your continued support to the events to date. It's really good to see the sport still growing.

Finally some good news; there has been a lot of speculation regarding the venue for SA Triathlon Championships and we have received confirmation from TSA that Bloemfontein has been secured for Sunday, 19 March 2017.
As you can see no dates have been determined for the SA Duathlon Championships from TSA and we are still engaging with event organisors with a view to host of WP Duathlon Champs. Unfortunately there has been no willlingness by existing organisers to host the event but we will keep everyone updated of developments.
Please see the email distributed to the Provinces containing announcements with regards to the SA Championships.

TSA Registration 2016/2017
By now most of you would have obtained your 2016-17 License required for Triathlon / Duathlon events. If not, please be reminded for Western Cape / Province Athletes it is compulsory to belong to a club in order to register for a TSA license. You select your club when you register and the membership will be verified between the Association and Club in the background.
Triathlon South Africa (TSA) has implemented the MOBII registration system and athletes are requested to register and pay directly on the TSA website. Once on the TSA site, you select REGISTER from the Home Page and then WP TRIATHLON from the Registration Page. You will be guided to the MOBII Registration System.

Provincial Championships & Selection
You will see from the calendar above that there aren't many weekends available with all the events (Triathlon and other) coming our way
In a previous communication the Committee did inform Triathletes that the following events were selected as "pre-qualifiers": Slanghoek Triathlon (Short or Long) which already took place in October or Jailbreak (Minimum or Maximum) which is taking place on December 10th. So if you still have not entered and wanting to be considered for SA Championships; you have another opportunity to prove your prowess as ONLINE ENTRIES CLOSE TOMORROW, 1 December 2016 on www.iqela-events.co.za. Please note the venue change to Breeland Cellars.
It is important to note that it is not compulsory to do this event, but should an unforeseen circumstance occur then there is a recorded performance to fall back on. As the date for Western Province Championships has not yet been secured it may be in your interest to enter Jailbreak.
As you can see from the above Event Calendar; there is limited time available before SA Triathlon Championships take place. We originally earmarked the weekend of 18/19 February 2017 for the WP Triathlon Championships but honestly in these difficult economic times and with the drought looming we are experiencing difficulty securing venues and sponsors. From now until February is peak harvesting season for a lot of farmers so they are not always willing to have races on the farms at this time. This is a reality check and as a Committee admittedly full time employed are not aspiring event organizers. So we therefore urge the Triathlon Community to please be patient and call for possible contacts that have the passion to assist securing an appropriate venue and/or participate in the event organizing.
We sent a communication to our existing event organizers at the end of October 2016 for suggested proposals and wait with baited breath, however if there are any new event organizers who would like to get involved in the Triathlon world; it would be such a boost. Please feel free to contact Lynne Manson-Kullin on Admin@WCTriathlon.co.za as soon as possible if you can assist. We really need your input and assistance to help strengthen our sport and give our stars the platform to perform as we remain positive that WP Championships to still take place
Website
We understand the frustration with the lack of a Western Cape / Cape Unicity Triathlon Web Site. We assure you that this is being looked at and that we will find the best and most economically viable solution to serve the Western Province and its Districts. In the meantime we will set up a Facebook Page and other social media accounts to facilitate structured information and continuous communication.
Please bear with us and "like" what you see!
Happy Holidays
Should you have any queries, concerns or require information; please do not hesitate to drop us a line at Admin@WCTriathlon.co.za
....and to end off this communication for 2016; keep fit, strong and healthy. Wishing all our Triathletes and your continued supportive families a very happy festive season. We hope to see you safely returned for a prosperous, healthy and successful 2017.
