This Week at the Museum

November 28, 2016

GMNH in the NEWS

Grab a copy of today’s Athens Banner-Herald and you’ll find Museum Director Bud Freeman in the lead story. UGA’s Ground Sloth has a temporary home in the Classic Center, and the Georgia Museum of Natural History will benefit from the publicity.

“I’m thankful for the interest by the Classic Center. It’s a great opportunity to get some publicity for the museum and let people know it exists,” said Director Freeman.

Visitors to the Classic Center will see the ground sloth directly in front of them as they take the Center’s escalator to the Grand Ballroom.

The article further notes that the Georgia Museum of Natural History, one of the country’s largest university-based natural history museums, is also one of UGA’s best-kept secrets. As we Friends are aware, exhibit space is minuscule and the millions of scientific specimens are kept in storage.

Members of the Friends, take this opportunity to talk to friends and neighbors about the A B-H article. Let’s get some buzz going.

Holiday Party!

Don’t forget — Thursday, December 8, 6:30 - 8:00 pm at the Gallery. Niki Castleberry and friends are updating the exhibits. There will be fun and games, and adult beverages. Bring friends and we’ll sign them up as new Friends.

Board Meeting Next Week.

The Friends Board will meet on December 6, 6:30 pm at the Museum Gallery. Contact Dac Crossley for information about the meeting.
Please visit out our web site (http://www.gmnhfriends.org) for a list of Friends activities, officers and Board Members.
