As this is our last newsletter before the Xmas break we would like to wish everyone a safe and happy Xmas and New Year. Please stay safe on our roads over the break.

November was a busy month with attendance at the Kimberley Economic Forum in Derby on the 1st and 2nd November. A great forum with 147 attendees, and excellent presenters on various economic drivers for the Kimberley region. Well done to the Derby Chamber for hosting. Next Year the forum will be hosted in Kununurra.

Building Better Regions Fund
The BBRF is an Australian Government initiative that will refocus the remaining funding under the National Stronger Regions Fund to better meet the needs of regional and remote communities.  By re-focusing funding the BBRF will create jobs and drive economic growth in regional Australia, and will build the kind of regional communities that people either want to stay in or come back to. Local Governments and not-for-profit organisations located outside of the major capital cities are eligible to apply. There are two streams available.

The Infrastructure Projects Stream will support projects which involve the construction of new infrastructure, or the upgrade or extension of existing infrastructure that provide economic and social benefits to regional and remote areas. Minimum grant amount of $20,000 and a maximum grant amount of $10 million for projects that must be completed by 31 Dec 2019. Closing 28th February 2017.

The Community Investments Stream will fund community building activities including but not limited to, new or expanded local events, strategic regional plans, and leadership and capability building activities. These projects will deliver economic and social benefits to regional and remote communities. The minimum  amount is $5,000 and the maximum  amount is $10 million. The project must be completed within 12 months of executing the grant agreement with the Commonwealth and by 31 Dec 2019. Closing 31st March 2017. Download the Community Investments Guidelines
