Team from New Life Fellowship Church, Houston, Texas
November was an exciting month at The Centre as usual! New Life Fellowship Church in Houston, Texas, again sent a wonderful team to help run the Thanksgiving dinner and also our prize giving banquet in our annual Photo Contest. They also ran cooking classes for the students – and funded all the above so we are very grateful. Everyone had fun and the team survived!

Our Christmas party this year was also a time of good food, good fun and a time of making new friends. It’s amazing to see how the usual Thai characteristics of humility and respect are stripped away when students are “stealing” gifts in the gift exchange game! This evening and this time of year are also wonderful opportunities of sharing the true meaning of Christmas with the students, many of whom previously had no idea about this, beyond knowing that Santa is probably not it!

When we can, we like to tell you about our students that have been impacted by God through The Centre. We will always change the name when we do so. Praise the Lord with us for this story.

*Name changed for privacy.

Andrew* had attended a Christian school prior to university and really enjoyed hearing stories about Jesus and learning about God. Upon entering university, he immediately joined a campus Christian club. However, soon after, the busyness of university activities and studies started crowding his life. After graduating from university, Andrew came to the Centre to brush up on his English skills. The environment reminded him of his time in high school, as well as his time with the Christian club. He soon began to regularly join a home fellowship group for worship as a result, and shortly after, realized that he was very hungry for God. Recently, God has opened his heart and he has responded to the good news of the gospel! Thank God for the many seeds that were planted along the way, and please pray for him to continue to grow in his newfound faith.

Give thanks and pray for…..

1. …. every student God brings along to The Centre. Pray that they would quickly feel a real part of the community here, enjoy coming more and more and for God to put a real thirst for Him in their hearts. Pray for the teachers and Thai staff; that we would teach/work well and that God’s love would permeate out from us to each other, the students and our neighbours. And pray for sensitivity and boldness as we share Jesus with our students – and our neighbours.

2. ….for those who have made commitments in the past year. Pray for them to grow in their faith in such a way that their friends and families will want to know Jesus too. Telling families about their new faith is often a big deal for new believers here. Please pray for God to prepare hearts for receiving this news and for the new believers as they tell of the new hope and life they have.

3. ….for two good review/planning meetings just before Christmas. For all our teachers to have a good break now and be refreshed for all that God has for us in 2017. This will include new initiatives decided on at our planning meeting in December. We have recently been studying a book on emotionally healthy spirituality. Please pray for us each as we seek to put ideas from this book into practice. Also for spiritual protection for all at The Centre.

Please pray too for …
More brilliant long-term and short-term teachers and for lots of students for them to teach! More teachers means more opportunities!
