Community Outreach Sack Supper Event is Around the Corner!
This much anticipated, annual service project to benefit the homeless is quickly approaching! Crow Island students will assemble sack suppers on Friday, December 16th. Each 1st-4th grade class will be responsible for assembling one sack supper per student. This service project is meant to replace the craft activity during class holiday parties, and help students remember the less fortunate in a season of abundance. The main message for the students is that the meal they pack will be eaten by a homeless person in Chicago that same night -- someone who might not otherwise have had a meal.
Room parents will be reaching out to solicit volunteer. This project is a big effort and requires an "all hands on deck" attitude to be a success. Thanks in advance for your help... it is well worth it!!!

THANK YOU!
Thanks to all who participated in Crow Island's first annual "Showers of Gratitude" event. We were truly "showered" with beautiful, heart-felt feathers and personal item donations. Just as we thought the turkey couldn’t get any bigger, it bursted another layer of feathers. It was humbling read all the messages of thanks... for family, teachers and friends to super moons, firefighters, shelters for the homeless and of course, hamsters! The overflowing boxes of Food Pantry donations were yet another example of the giving spirit of our Crow Island Community... hundreds of goods were delivered to those in need thanks to YOU. We look forward to enjoying this new tradition for years to come!
