Demijohn was founded in Edinburgh’s Grassmarket, in 2004 by Angus and Frances Ferguson who are passionate about good food and drink. Demijohn’s York Store at 11 Museum Street, close to York Minster, opened in Sept 2009.



 

Inspired by continental cantinas and markets this liquid deli from Scotland sells liqueurs, spirits, whiskies, oils and vinegars, lovingly sourced from small producers, predominantly across the UK, who share Angus and Frances's passion for food and drink.

Demijohn is unique – both its method of selling and the products it sells. Many of the liquids are only available at Demijohn and are as unusual and distinctive as the British culture. Visiting Demijohn is better than a trip to a bar as customers are encouraged to taste the products before their purchase is bottled for them in the shop.



The Staff are more than sales people – they are passionate about the quality of the liquids and the provenance. With flavours such as Gooseberry Gin, Elderflower Vinegar and Rhubarb Vodka, this is fun shopping for the inquisitive food lover. We urge you to come and try for yourself!
