Congratulations to our UK Worldskill Champion!
This time last week our industry was being excellently represented by eight fantastic florists taking part in the finals of the UK Worldskills Competition at the Skillshow.

The results announced at last Saturdays award ceremony crowned Dean Sharpe the champion and Gold medal winner.

Congratulations also go to Zoe Simmons who won a Silver Medal and Joy Kim who won a bronze medal.

Autumn Statement - What it means for you

Wednesday saw the Chancellor Philip Hammond present the Autumn Statement along with the spending review, here are some key points:
  • The tax free personal allowance rises to £11,500 in April 2017, and then to £12,500 by the end of this parliament.
  • Employer National Insurance (NI) is changing. The threshold for Employer and Employee NI will be the same at £157 per week from April 2017. This alignment of the thresholds will cost businesses employing staff a maximum of £7.18 per employee per year.
  • National Living Wage to rise from £7.20 an hour to £7.50 from April 2017
Other information:
  • Reduction of the Money Purchase Annual Allowance
  • From April 2017, the use of salary sacrifice will no longer be allowed, except for ultra low emission cars, childcare, pension contributions & the cycle-to-work scheme.
  • Anti-avoidance measures for the VAT Flat Rate Scheme
  • Autumn Budgets commencing in Autumn 2017
