Most calorie-tracking apps let you enter calories burned from exercise. That may not be a good idea.

Ho ho ho!

It's the holiday season and that means...presents! OK, it means other things too, but gift-giving is right up there (just behind gift-receiving). Show you care by giving the gift of fitness. The obvious options these days are wearables like the FitBit but here are some other ideas on giving the Gift of Fitness this year.

Foam roller: There are different kinds, from the less expensive and softer styrofoam varieties to the more expensive and harder "Grid." (We have the former at StrongFast and I use the latter at home.) These can be a great way to improve tissue quality, range of motion, and just feel better. 

Resistance band: These are versatile and travel well. They also easily adapt to different strength levels. A 3/4-inch band is a good start for most people. There are plenty of vendors; these are the ones we use.

StrongFast Blended Fitness gift certificate: The new introductory package is a great fitness-starter and is on sale for the holidays.

Kettlebell: When used correctly, these are great for fat-burning, conditioning and strength-building. Some instruction is really helpful but sticking to the basics can make them work for most everybody. Tip: make sure it's not brightly colored...those are always too light!

Recipe: Lemon Pepper Chicken
 
This one appeared in an old-style StrongFast newsletter, but that recipe is no longer accessible online. So here's another one. I like to make a bunch at once since it's so easy and keeps well in the freezer. (In the picture, I've already taken a piece...I was hungry.) I also put a little lemon juice on each piece, just for fun.
