(our Fall/Winter menu)
Our Sharing ExperienceIn April, Chef Gerry, food and travel writer Renee Suen, and I traveled to Bangkok for a week of eating and exploring.  We walked over 10,000 steps each day in 35C heat, seeing all the sites and eating very very well.  We are fortunate to have good friends in some of the best restaurants in Bangkok, so after a week travelling together, we left Chef Gerry behind to cook with Bo, Dylan, and Kiki at Bo.Lan, and then with Jarrett at Soul Food Mahanakorn

Our Fall/Winter menu is the first opportunity for us to incorporate some of the inspirations we brought back from Bangkok.  One of the key directions we wanted to take the menu was to focus on sharing.  Regardless of whether you ate on the streets or at one of the Michelin-rated restaurants in BKK, you were always presented with multiple dishes to share with your friends and family at the table.  We've always believed this is the best way to enjoy Thai food, and with this menu we've brought back this dining experience.

Flank SteakChef Gerry also incorporated some of the new flavours he brought back from Thailand in this new menu.  You'll find sang gua (think green curry without coconut), grapow (a soy-chili sauce), kaya, and other amazing flavours.  We've also dropped our prices a bit so you can order more dishes to share for the same price.  For weekday lunches, we know you're a bit more pressed for time, so we have a number of individual lunch plates on the menu.  My favourite is the Fried Chicken Skin in Milk Bun Sandwich, but then I'm a sucker for chicken skin anytime.

So if you haven't been back in a while, come on by.  It's a new experience and we hope you'll enjoy it.  And if I don't get a chance to write again before the holidays, have yourself a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

PS: Renee just had an article published in the Toronto Star this week describing some of her travels in Thailand this year.  It's a bit of a flight to get there: there are no direct flights to BKK from Toronto, but plenty of options with a quick stop in one of the major Asian transit points.  But once there the sights, flavours, and - most importantly - affordability, make it more than worthwhile.
