We’ll be decking the halls with beautiful Chrismons, angels, and greenery on the first Sunday of Advent as we prepare for the coming of Christ.

All are welcome
for this annual service at
4:00pm this Sunday, November 27.

Deadline Extended
If you missed the deadline to order poinsettias to help decorate the sanctuary this holiday season, there’s still time.  We’ve extended the order deadline to this Sunday. Pick up a poinsettia envelope in your pew or email Lesia Robertson.

They will become part of the sanctuary decorations on Sunday, December 18, and
you can take yours home after the Christmas Eve service.
We all search for a group of people that we want to be a part of. For some it's family and friends ... for others it's based on goals and aspirations. Contemporary culture calls it #SquadGoals. God chose an unlikely band of sinners and saints to be a part of Jesus' Squad ... and the same is still true today. Join us each Sunday through Advent and Christmas as we look at the people who had waited for and would ultimately celebrate the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ into the world.
Community Christmas Tree Lighting
Tuesday, December 6 | 6:00pm | Forest Park next to Silvertron
Enjoy the Christmas season with our neighborhood friends by joining us for the annual Christmas Tree lighting in Forest Park. Local school children will be singing as we sip hot chocolate and enjoy the tree all aglow. Our church provides the tree each year.
If you would like to donate money to help with the cost,
write “Community Christmas Tree” on the memo line of your check.

Lessons & Carols
Sunday, December 18 | 4:00pm | Sanctuary

Enjoy the traditional scriptures and hymns of the season as our chancel choir joins with the choir of Woodlawn UMC for a special service of Lessons and Carols presented in our Avondale sanctuary.  Join us for this beautiful telling of the Christmas story.

Christmas Eve Candlelight Worship and Communion
Saturday, December 24 | 4:00pm | Sanctuary

Bring your friends and family as we celebrate the coming of Christ.  This worship service will include your favorite Christmas carols, the reading of Luke’s Christmas story, a Christmas message, Holy Communion, and candlelight that leads us out to shine Christ’s light into the darkness of the world.  All are welcome!

Christmas Day - Birthday Party!
Sunday, December 25 | 11:00am | Fellowship Hall

We’ll celebrate the birth of Christ in a fun and festive way with a birthday cake for our Savior, singing Christmas carols, laughter, and fellowship.  Come casual … maybe even wear that tacky Christmas sweater … and bring your family and friends.
Individuals and families are all welcome.

Christmas Gifts for Angels
Our church has adopted five children and grandchildren from our Co-op members to help provide Christmas presents for them.  If you’d like to adopt a child, contact Pastor Malinda. If you’d like to contribute money toward the gifts and have someone else do the shopping, make a check to the church and write “Christmas Angels” in the memo line.

Give Young Parents a Stress-free Night Out
We’re offering our annual Parents’ Night Out this Friday, December 2 and the following Friday, December 9.  We need adults to help oversee youth volunteers who will be leading games and activities with the children.  If you can help either night, please contact Alison Jenkins.

Parents’ Night Out
Avondale is excited to again offer Parents' Night Out for the next two Fridays, December 2nd and December 9th from 6-8pm. The cost is $5/child or $10 family maximum. We provide pizza, bouncy houses, crafts and games. Email Alison Jenkins to sign up. Space is limited. Enjoy a fun night out! Merry Christmas from Avondale UMC!
