The colours of the rainbow

This month our WA summer sun has returned with a vengeance giving us all a bit of a shock. Quickly off with all the horses winter rugs and out with the light cottons and the fly veils!  Our riders on the other hand really enjoyed our rainbow ribbons at our Gymkhana and huge thanks to all our volunteers who came along and helped on the day.

RDA National Dressage Video Championships – Results.

Results from the RDA National Dressage Video Champs were released late October and we are so very proud of each and every one of our riders who entered!

Super results in all the classes - congratulations to Sara 2nd, Mercedes 2nd, Jaye 3rd, Tamara 5th, Nick 4th (HC) and Eloise 4th in their respective grades and tests.  All the tests were recorded at CTRC which was set up with a 40 x 20 dressage arena, horses plaited and presented beautifully and recorded with our new video camera. All riders apart from Sara used CTRC horses so big carrots for Flash, Missy and Kiara and of course for Choco too! Huge thanks to M'liss for coordinating it all and to all the volunteers and parents for your help on the day!

You can read the full list of results here!
International Performance Coach Jon Pitts visit

CTRC, RDA and other interested riders enjoyed a fabulous lecture and demonstration morning at Perth Horse & PC with super coach Jon Pitts on October 22nd.

The morning was filled with an indoor lecture and slide show on his Ride Smart Therapy Program, and then a practical fit ball session. Finally finishing off with a ridden session with two demonstration riders who just happened to be our own M’Liss Henry on Banana & Yvonne Yardley on the spunky Dainhill.

After lunch Jon taught one on one lessons at CTRC through to 7pm. A very full day for all involved which everyone enjoyed immensely, learnt a lot and are looking forward to Jon’s next visit.  Many thanks to Jo Blomquist for organising this day for our riders!

CTRC Annual Gymkhana

November 19th saw 22 riders and the same in volunteer riders and parents come and enjoy our annual gymkhana.  All riders got a chance to compete in jumping, keyhole, Apple bobbing, egg & Spoon, cup race and the water race. At lunchtime a sausage sizzle was provided for all riders & helpers in the shade of our lovely front garden.

Many thanks to WADSA, Act Belong Commit campaign and Kate for supplying medals to all our riders.  It was great to see the comradery between the riders and the volunteers and all the parents videoing all the races.

We are so very glad that you all loved our rainbow ribbons and for those that couldn’t make it we were able to run through the races in lessons this week and give more rainbow ribbons out!  A massive thankyou to everyone that helped out on the day, it was a mammoth effort from first thing in the morning till pack up in the afternoon – lots of rainbows to you!!!

Thanks to Alex for taking some fantastic photos on the day! You can see them all here.
Vale – Chloe

This month Sara lost her best mate Chloe. She was 14 years old and loved to go to the stables and run around and was a constant companion for Sara.

Sara is now on the lookout for another small dog, so if anyone knows of a small dog that may suit, please let either Sara or Jacqui know on 0417 124 352.
October 21st – Someone’s Birthday!!!!

Thanks to everyone who came along with a plate at lunchtime and wished M’Liss a Happy Birthday. We definitely made her day very special by the celebrations at the stables and the 150 plus people from near and far that wished her a Happy Birthday through our FB page!
Volunteer of the Month

The quiet achiever - Jo Hawker

“I first came to CTRC 10 years ago to learn to ride in a safe supportive environment.  I soon realised M’Liss’s amazing skills and intuition at matching people with the right horse and her sensitivity to their needs and abilities – it was this that got me hooked. I’ve learned so much from M’Liss and the horses than I ever imagined and am grateful I can give back by volunteering my time at the centre.”

Jo still has a lesson once a week and volunteers one or two days a week.   She is one of the most kind, gentle and giving ladies you will ever meet. She is another example of the great kaleidoscope of people you will find in the CTRC family.
