Ready, Steady, Shop!

Are you ready to get your shop on?! Head to Maplewood Elementary for Chula League’s 15th Annual Cherrywood Art Fair this Saturday and Sunday from 10 AM – 5 PM. Plan a day with your family or friends. We’ve got the booth map here so you can chart the artists you don’t want to miss, here’s our entertainment lineup to help you plan your breaks, don’t forget we have our Foodpalooza packed with yummies to keep you fueled for your day of fun!

While our outdoors booths and activities will certainly keep you busy, you must make it to our Silent Auction in the cafeteria. Not only will we have art from our Little Artists, and artists in the show to bid on, but you can bid on activities so you can catch a movie and dine at Alamo Drafthouse or Violet Crown Cinema, enjoy a night out at Kome Sushi Kitchen, Garbo’s, Contigo, treat yourself (or a loved one!) to a facial or massage from Spavia Day Spa, get styled for the holiday with a haircut from Bird’s Barbershop, or have some fun at the Austin Zoo. This is just a teaser of the goods in our auction donated by many generous local businesses.

We have more exciting news to share! Google Fiber is now an official sponsor and Lashonda Lester will be taking over as our Saturday emcee. Lashonda is an Austin based comedian and producer and the winner of 2016’s Funniest Person In Austin competition. Comedy Central also named her a 2016 Comic To Watch.

Chula League is partnering up with some GREAT Austin nonprofit groups this year in our Community Area. We have Circus of Hope, Fifth Dimension Books, Girlstart, LASA Robots, and more! Be sure to visit them to learn about their cause and have fun doing it.

Weather & Transportation — Cherrywood Art Fair is a rain or shine event! Break out the winter hats and scarves and enjoy hot cocoa from Fiesta or grab hot coffee at our foodpalooza. Did you know we offer valet for only $5?! It’s perfect when you’re traveling with a big group, have little one gear to tote around, and shortens the distance you have to carry all your holiday shopping goods. You can also take advantage of our FREE pedicabs (don’t forget to tip!) available for those of you coming from the neighborhood. Public transit is always a good idea, we have a bus stop nearby.

Today’s artists mentoring tomorrow’s. Our LaBA program pairs East Austin elementary school students with professional artists who show kids how to turn ideas into art and art into a business that ends with an art exhibit, and pieces are auctioned at the fair.

GET INVOLVED

Apply to be a BIG ARTIST mentor in our 10-week 2017 LaBA program and make a difference in the life of a young artist. Sign up to volunteer at our 15th annual Cherrywood Art Fair, which helps fund our LaBA program. Join our 2017 Board of Directors.
