Co-organisation of 3 masterclasses

As part of our Stakeholders Initiative, we are proud to announce that Metabolism of Cities will be co-organising (with OVAM, .Fabric, Vlaamse Milieumaatschappij (VMM/MIRA), and Team Vlaams Bouwmeester) three masterclasses on urban metabolism. The masterclasses are entitled Designing With Flows: Towards an Urban-Metabolic Agenda for a Circular Future and will take place in Brussels on the 08/12/2016, 12/01/2017, 02/02/2017.

Data visualization project - Vote!

There are many ways to visualize your results in urban metabolism research. However, it is a challenge to design a map or diagram that is clear and appealing at the same time, and that captures the full extent of your dataset. Back in October we launched our Stakeholders Initiative and invite everyone to join the discussion. Data Visualizations will was our first topic of discussion, running from October-December 2016. In this period, we include one data visualization every day (we now have 67 of them see Data Visualization portal).

From January 1st to Jan 20th we will open the voting process in order to find out which are the best urban metabolism visualization. You can choose you three favourites and we will give a Metabolism of Cities certificate for the three winners! So make sure to vote!

Call for assistance

There are more things than the ones we can do ourselves! Why don't you join our efforts and help us make useful tools and information around urban metabolism available to the public! Here are a couple items on our wish list where we can use your support:
  • Extracting data from publications and adding it to our global urban metabolism dataset.
  • Creation of a list of relevant journals, and preferably some background information about what kind of urban metabolism publications are covered there.
  • Revision of our collections by an expert and support adding missing publications.
  • Testing and feedback of our OMAT tool, especially for use that differs from urban Eurostat-based MFAs
Also feel free to come up with other improvements for our website. Constructive criticism is always welcome! You can view our full wish list here: Metabolism of Cities Wishlist.
