Merry and Bright at ADEC

The holidays are coming, and ADEC clients are ready for the magic of the season. Each day service works hard on special projects as people prepare gifts and try to keep some big secrets. At our group homes, festive decorations and trees brighten the atmosphere as the fresh-baked smell of treats fills the air.  In the community, many of our friends don their elf hats on as they shop for the ADEC Holiday Wish List.

At the Bristol Administration Building, the Art by ADEC store could not look merrier or brighter. Decorative holiday art pieces and canvases fill the wall, ready to brighten your home or office space. If you've been meaning to stop by the store but just don't have time during the week, tomorrow is the perfect time! From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., the Art by ADEC store will be open for special holiday hours. Come and get some ADEC cheer for your home.

This week, we celebrate how ADEC gives opportunity and makes our clients' lives merry and bright in unexpected ways. We also share how you can give to us - without even spending a penny.

ADEC 2016-17 Winter Weather Procedures

It’s that time of the year again. Although we’re all crossing our fingers for a mild winter, we know that Mother Nature hasn’t been so kind to us in Northern Indiana the past few years.

As adverse weather conditions come our way, the safety of our employees and clients is our top priority. Please take a look at the weather procedures so you can know what to expect in the case of nasty weather conditions.

If there is any threat of severe weather – whether it’s thick fog, snow, ice or extreme cold – Transportation Director Jeff Schrock will begin monitoring conditions at 4:30 a.m. and make a call shortly thereafter in coordination with Donna Belusar, our CEO and President. As soon as a decision to close or delay our programs or transportation is made, Michelle Sokol, Media Communications Specialist, will communicate that to employees and the public via our website, phone systems, social media channels and all local television and radio stations.

Feel free to contact Michelle Sokol with any general questions about the winter weather procedures.

Pay It Forward continues as a way for ADEC employees to recognize their coworkers for the positive contributions they make each day. Be sure to continue to submit nominations via the employee website and check back in the next month to see who won the drawing. Each winner chooses from a selection of $25 gift cards.

Elisha Dockery
When the Mackey Group Home is in a “crunch” Elisha is always willing to come in on her days off to help out.  She is such a great asset to the Mackey Group Home as well as ADEC!  I have also had to pull her to help out with coverage at Heather Lakes Group Home and she is always willing to help out no matter what.  Thanks Elisha for all you do for the clients.  It is very much appreciated!
- Stacy Poorman

Last night Elisha noticed the inside of the microwave was excessively dirty and immediately went to work cleaning without being asked and with no expectation of recognition. The only reason I realized it was her is because when I went back to clean it myself a little later, I noticed that it had already been done and that Elisha was the only one who had been in the kitchen in that time frame. Elisha is always taking initiative and doing the kind of jobs that others might ignore. Thank you Elisha for all of your hard work! - Joshua Spinney

Maria Grove | Shout out to Maria! She always remembers the tasks everyone else forgets, and on time. Especially when it comes to bathroom duty, which can become an unpleasant task, Maria's always on it. Thank You Maria, we really appreciate it! - Amber Maust

Monica Johnson | I love Monica Johnson. I really don't know what I would do without her. She's always willing to help me out when I ask her and she even anticipates my scheduling needs and offers to help before I even have a chance to ask her sometimes. I really appreciate her. Thank you Monica!! - Blanca Leonhard

ADEC proudly advocates for and serves people with developmental and
