Did You Know?

The White Rock BIA has identified a number of Core Functions and Key objectives as outlined in its current strategic plan. The BIA is committed to providing value-added service to member businesses. One Core Function that we participate in is through Street Beautification & Enhancement. The WRBIA’s Beautification and Enhancement Program coordinates all beautification projects within the four BIA business districts. The BIA works to identify programs and initiatives that support the overall beautification of the community including seasonal lighting, street furniture, landscape architecture and other forms of streetscape enhancement. The goal is to create a charming and welcoming business community.

Update from Terry Ross, Committee Chair for the BIA Beautification & Enhancement Committee.

A meeting of the BIA Beautification & Enhancement Committee was held on Thursday, December 1, 2016 at the BIA office. The committee members were joined by two representatives for the City of White Rock to discuss ongoing projects concerning the revitalization of the Terry Parr Plaza, seasonal street lighting, street banners, graffiti removal and placement of plants and planters along business corridors.

There was a mutual agreement that the White Rock BIA and the City need to continue to work together to enhance the business community and the tourist areas through these types of beautification projects.
The Terry Parr Plaza project located on East Beach is a joint project with the City, the BIA and the five local area Rotary Clubs. It is hoped to start the revitalization early in 2017 and have it completed in time for the summer tourist season. The plan includes a general cleanup of the whole area, new plants, new multi-use sidewalk area, new lighting and street furniture as well as signage indicating the history of that area of White Rock and of Terry Parr, the long-time supporter of White Rock that the park is named after.
