Be The Change:

Honoring Courageous Plaintiffs

The National Employment Lawyers Association is now accepting nominations for “Be The Change: Honoring Courageous Plaintiffs,” the opening plenary session of NELA’s 2017 Annual Convention. Three individuals (or a representative if s/he is part of a class or collective action case) will be selected and invited to attend the 2017 Annual Convention to share their stories on Thursday, June 22, 2017, the first day of the Annual Convention. The Convention will take place at the Marriott San Antonio Rivercenter in San Antonio, TX.
 
Plaintiffs who are nominated must meet the following criteria:

  1. The plaintiff(s) must have been represented by a current NELA member(s).
  2. The case meets at least one of the following:
    1. the case had a significant impact on advancing the legal rights of workers;
    2. the case  changed the plaintiff’s workplace for the better;
    3. the case involved a specific group of workers (e.g., immigrant workers, whistleblowers, low wage workers, women, workers with disabilities, etc.);
    4. the plaintiff was tenacious in overcoming extraordinary obstacles and/or has a compelling story of perseverance and courage; and
    5. the plaintiff is an inspiration for workers’ rights and employee rights advocates.

The deadline for receipt of nominations is Friday, December 23, 2016. When forwarding nominations, please describe in detail how the nominee meets the above criteria; incomplete nominations will not be considered. Nominations may be submitted by postal mail, fax, and email, and sent to:
